Quick Stick Lie Question

Recommended Posts

Im going from a 5 Lie Modano blade (which ive used for as long as I can remember) to a 5 lie Iginla blade and I was wondering if I'm going to notice a bid difference between the two and just how much of a difference it actually makes going up .5.

It all depends on how well you can get use to it. I couldnt and went back to the modano but you may be able to its not a big difference but you can still tell.

There isn't a standard benchmark that anyone can use to say that you will or will not be able to adjust to a 5.5 lie. You have to try for yourself. The blade/shaft angle will be about 2 degrees smaller. Assuming that you're going to be keeping the length of your stick the same, you may experience a slight problem if you're already getting even wear on the tape of your blade with the modano.

compare the two blades to eachother... with most products, including the two you are talking about... they have contoured bottoms to the blades. that being the case, they do not contain a true lie to the blade. a true lie blade will have a flat bottom on the blade. i dont think you will find much difference with these two except slight curve difference. if you want some more info on true lie sticks send me a pm.

When I switch from my Drury to a Modano ocasionally (given the sticks are the same length) I have to adjust my follow through, shooting motion, and hand position on the stick in order to get similar results. Sometimes you even have to adjust to a deeper/more shallow knee bend. Not worth the transition IMO if what your using works.

I use a half inch shorter plug if I have to go up to a 5.5 lie than I do with a 5 lie blade. It's just a matter of feeling it out and finding what works for you.

That's a great idea, I never knew you could compensate for using a different lie by changing out your plug.

It's not comfortable but I can make it work in a pinch.
