Kovy_Ribs_Fedo 3 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Gary Roberts, theres a guy with heart, grit, skill, speed, size. Hes too old now but still a beauty. Was never afraid to give or take a bump, drop the mits, or put the puck in the net. As for #91 Sergei Fedorov, unreal, but not really a power forward. Sergei has unlimited amouts of speed and skill. He is no doubt, bar-none the best skating hockey player in the show, if not the whole world. I cant remember the exact year but he won the fastest skater I believe in 92. That man can generate so much speed through center ice and create unlimited rushes per game. He won the hardest shot in 02? not bad, considering he's the only player to ever win two different all star skills contests Sergei is an awesome player but I don't think he could be consider a power forward because if we consider Fedorov as a power forward, than Kovalev is also a power forward. 2048 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 I don't know if he's been mentioned, but I'll go with Pat Verbeek. Not that big but he scored all the power forward-ish goals. Of course it doesn't hurt to have the world's fattest blade ever. Didn't hurt that he was a "little ball of hate," either.Edit- When he wants to, Kovalev will throw hits and can take them extremely well. Putting a body on him doesn't seem to affect him much. I can't say the same about Fedorov actually taking part in the physical part of the game, but I haven't watched him much, either.
ponty 0 Report post Posted February 18, 2005 Tim Kerr was a very nice choice indeed. My list:Howe NeelyTochettKerrMy definition of power forward - tough, stands up and takes care of his own battles, and scores.

Hockeyman9621 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 Nobody tops Mr. Hockey in that role. He stands WAY above any other power forward... heck he defined it.Forsberg, Hull and Mario as power forwards?! Are you kidding me? Why not put Gretz in there as well? Why not forsberg? He's impossible to knock off the puck and throws huge hits. He hasn't been as physical since his spleen(it was his spleen right?) was messed up. Especially in the playoffs, he's not afraid to get into the rough stuff.
Ogie Oglethorpe 14 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 One might argue that Forsberg takes too many dives (sort of conduct unbecoming and all that). Some might also argue Marty LaPointe, but it's been a while since he's put up points consistantly, so he probably wouldn't be applicable on second thought...... ponty 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 Draper doesnt fight his own battles and is not a scorer ... last year or not.Forsberg, in my mind, does not have the same power game that Neely or Tochett had. He does not fight his own battles either.Iginla? Sure I see him that way but want to see a few more years. I once saw Shanny and Tkachuk that way but no longer. Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 Does anyone else think a Power forward can't or maybe just hasn't ever been the "goto guy" on the team.I think of Neely, but Oates and Bourque were always the guys (when I was around at least)Tocchet had a long list of guysI think of Bert before I'd ever think of Iggy, which could be becauase Iggy is the star and Bert has NaslundTkachuk had Selanne then in STL kind've dissappeared a bit and still had the 2 big D and Turgeon.Shanny (never got to see'em in Hartford, but I assume Francis was there) on Det had Yzerman. Not saying it can't be done, just thinking of a crazy theory. It's almost like they are dependant on other guys do the other jobs while they crash and bang.
ponty 0 Report post Posted February 20, 2005 Yea I power forward does need a setup guy I totally agree. The power forward is typically not THE guy either. I think Iginla will break that trend.Oates / Neely / Juneau was a thing of beauty indeed.Looking back on it I think Kerr had Murray Craven. I am not sure who Tochett had.
