Vapor XX glove updates?

Recommended Posts

So how are people's XX gloves holding up? palmwise, scuff wise, smell wise? I have had mine for only about a month and just wanted to see if theres anything I need to be looking for. Also, if my palm were ever to wear out, is it possible to get the same replacement palms? most of the places I see offer only clarino or leather palms. And how do you guys keep your top hand palms intact? mine is starting to fuzz a bit and I am getting paranoid and wondering if i should not tape up the handles anymore.

Mine are holding up like tanks. I've used them for ice for about 11 months now and they are still in great shape. The palm is still almost new in the "stretch" (the black) part. No fraying, tearing or wear at all. The clarino portion on the palm is still intact as well with only minor wear on the tape hand.

Scuffs here and there mostly from board rub, etc. but they still look good (I have the all blacks).

Smellwise, well, they freaking reek. These are by far the stinkiest gloves I've ever had. Of course it's from so much wear and the dri-fit liner seems to soak in stink. This is after drying them out on a rack after every use. I may have to go the sani-machine route to see if it helps, but yeah, they smell. Small price to pay though.

I've had my Vapor XX gloves for this whole season, which would be about 75 ice times, and so far, i have had no major problems. The only thing that i have noticed so far is a bit of wear in the palm of my top hand glove, but that is to be expected. Other than that, there is nothing else that i am worried about, a bit of the stitching has come loose but has not affected anything on the glove. The only other thing on my gloves is that on the side of my index finger, there is a bit of wear in the material.

yea im worried about my top hand...I dont want to wear out the palm too fast so I was thinking of putting a layer of that clear packing tape over the butt end to make it nice and smooth.

electrical tape works the best for me in preventing the wear on the top hand. you'll still get some wear, but not nearly as much as with using grip tape or stick tape

I don't even think that you would have to put anything down on top of the existing palm. If you're worried about feel of your stick at all, don't bother, and your gloves will hold up for quite a long time, but if you want them to last forever, then go ahead with electrical tape if you want or something else.

I've probably owned more gloves than anyone on this board and I can tell you for a fact these smell worse than any other pair I've used. They started to smell quicker than other gloves I've used as well. But yeah, I realize they're not stink proof.. just wanted to give a word of warning based on my experience. ;)

I agree, my XV's smelled horrible after a few ice times

Used my Xv's the entire season, buy far the best smelling gloves I've had. Smell better then my Pro bionics did with coolmax lining.

do the XX gloves justify the extra cash over the XV?

The build quality of the glove is a little better in terms of detailing on the outside of the glove and the palm is different. Weight felt pretty much the same so I guess its a matter of personal preference of the palm and how much cash you got kicking around.
