The LA Kings have offered many times to open their books too. The Kings are a large market team and sell out their games fairly often, yet they say they are still losing money. Goodenow, Linden, et all, this time you are dead wrong.

Yep, I'm a Penguins fan, and the only thing that can save my team right now is a soft cap and a big tax on teams that went past it which would then be shared to the lower teams.

The Penguins are another one of those teams that actually loses less money having no games played.

Considering they made a profit two years ago and barely lost anything last year, I don't believe that.

when the NHLPA turns down offers to example the books of various teams, and have chance to shoot down the holes in the reveune streams,etc..and doesn't it makes me think of the McDonald's commercial that's all over the TV where the guy is talking about those Chicken Selects and even at the end has his back turned to the FREE CHICKEN SELECTS sign so he doesn't have to believe

I have no doubt that teams hide revenue for many purposes..but to not at least give yourself the opportunity to see it firsthand, well that's ignorant..

The last time the NHLPA looked over the books of a couple of teams they claim to have found $50M in hidden funds on four teams. The NHL disputed those numbers. If they did find any hidden money, the NHL would have disputed it. It would have been a pointless excercise for all involved.

It is a federal offense to cook audited books. As long as audited books are used and not merely UROs that are unregulated, the hiding of revenues shouldn't be an issue.

And in the end, this is as much about principle as the NHLPA's "no cap" stance turned out to be.

This is all about money. The NHLPA is afraid that the damage caused to the business done by the lockout would have a direct effect on the players' paychecks into the future.
