I was wondering if anybody has a picture of Ilya Kovalchucks stick with the black on the bottom. I know that its for "hiding the puck" but I was just wanting to see it. Thank you.

What do you mean "black on the bottom"? Just plain old black tape or is it something special/unique?

he means spray-painted im guessing.And yes, it's generally for hiding the puck.

Yeah i did mean spray paint on the bottom to hide the puck when shooting.

It's a wive's tale that really doesn't matter/work once you get to a certain level of hockey. After that, it's all preference as to what colour tape you use.

Why do some players spray paint the their blades black and then use white tape over it ?

Am I the only one who thinks this defeats the purpose of spray painting the blade in the first place

I have seen Rick Nash and a couple other players do this

In their case, they may be painting over the stick because it's a distracting colour.

that's my case with my roller blades, I spraypaint them black because of the color.

Rick Nash just use 2-3-4 stripes of tape at the toe of the blade. It's not all the blade.

possible that kovalchuck signed with inno and was not using a inno blade or he copied heatley :D

I would guess he does it because it looks better than seeing INNOVATIVE written again on the blade. The blade is black anyways and so is the shaft so it can't be for hiding the puck or vision problems.
