Tour Ice Skates

Recommended Posts

Just curious what people think. I've seen the Ice skates listed on their website, but haven't seen any in any of my LHS.

i've got a pair of tour rollers, and I've seen the same boot on some ice skates. I really like the boot, and if I could find some tour ice skates I would definitely consider buying them, but the ones I saw I wasn't crazy about the holder on them so I'd have to change that up.

Yeah, a new holder wouldn't hurt at all.

My friend has a pair of Tour inline skates (don't remember which model) and he put a Tuuk hold on them and he uses them for ice now.

Well I was talking about the models from like 2 or 3 years ago the news ones don't look too bad. Are they that bad chadd?

I LOVE their boots. They really fit my feet well, probably better than anything out there that I've tried. I'm thinking about getting a pair of Blue Max for ice since I have the inlines and really like them. I have an extra set of lightspeeds sitting around the house in case the crew holder is bunk.

While not a huge name (at least in ice), their boots have been the only company through the years to consistanly fit me..

How do they fit? I have narrow ankles and a wide forefoot. I didn't even know they made ice skates until I came across THIS.

Looks like a low cut boot alot like the Mission S series.

i think they may have to tone the design down a tiny bit because right now, there are too many colours on the boot. from the description, they sound pretty nice though.

my friend broke his razor bladz and he switched to the crew holders, and he likes them better than the razor blades, kind of like custom +'s but stiffer.

We've had great responses from everyone who's used the Crew and Crow holders. They have an outside bolt so it's easy to change the steel.

The Rebellion skates I demo'd had Crews and I wasn't impressed at all.

Thats what we've had them on. We have about 5 kids in the city on them. They all like them. Like I said, we sell them on the "quick replacement" idea and performance reports have been good, but our user base is small.

Part of it may be because of how badly they were mounted as these were only sales samples but I was less than impressed. I would be interested in seeing how the new Rebellion holder works, it's a cross between a Tuuk and a Cobra.

You could even describe these as a Tuuk and Cobra cross. The bolts are on the outside (Cobra), but they seem built like a Tuuk. The Sample we had of the Rebellions were also much worse than the retails (Custom + and LS holders are also available with the Rebellions). The Samples were generally 1-3 sizes too small for the skate and that plastic outsole doesn't help the apperance at all.

The new one has two posts that hold the steel but you can access the nuts without removing the holder or drilling holes in the footbed. It looks very Cobra or ICM-ish but uses the same steel as a custom+. I think it really has potential if it's stiff and has good steel. The skates I had were so bad and fit so poorly I couldn't even begin to demo them and I gave them back to my rep after being on the ice less than a minute.

The Crew (Crow) is basically a tuuk holder with side mounts, not much different structurally. It performs similar to the Tuuks.

It's low cost so a good value as long as you get the stainless steel blades.

I've sold a bunch over the years, no complaints as well.

The Crews I skated on were not the same as the Crows I've seen and used. The Crews were much less stiff and had more give.

crew made some cheaper versions for the real low end skates, perhaps you got a set of those. I have crews and crows here in the shop, except for some minor extrior 'trim" they are fairly identical.

Chadd - Have you by any chance seen the Rebellion "T-Blade" holder? It is solid plastic, all the way through, no holes like Tuuks, Cobra's, etc., with interchangable blades, if you haven't. Heavy as hell and I honestly think they would feel like garbage on ice.
