Vapor XX Curves

Recommended Posts

Here is my situation. My gramma got me a gift certificate to Peranis redeemable for a Vapor XX. She was going to get me one of them, but didnt know what flex and curve so the people there made her a "custom" gift certificate. So I went there and they had every curve but the Kovalchuk. I've used a Drury curve forever, so I would like to know which Bauer curve on Vapor XX's would most likely be easiest to adjust to coming from a Drury. I asked if I could just order a 102 flex P91 (Kovalchuk) but they said the ones on the floor are the last ones they are ordering and no more are coming in. The curves they had were

P106 Jokinen

P88 Lindros

P71 Peca

PM9 Hossa

P10 - didnt see a name labeled

any suggestions would be helpful

thanks

P106, but I'd see if I can get it changed for either another Bauer stick or another brand with the Drury curve available.

The P106 is fairly close to the P91 though.

P10 is the Gagne curve. It's pretty much roughly equivalent to Easton's Shanahan.

Short of that, I'd recommend visiting the pattern/curve database (it's linked at the top, or just go to http://www.modsquadhockey.com/index.php?act=Patterns )

Maybe P02 (Pronger)? Descrip is slightly different, but looks to be the closest.

So the P106 is my best bet. I was looking at it, and thought it was closest. For anyone who uses a P106 what can I expect out of it? Like I know a lot of curves are "made" for different things. What is the P106 "made" for?

Is the P106 a curve that produces a hard rising slapper naturally? I know that Drury's and Lidstrom's do this for me. Good solid risers. I'm a defenceman so I like taking the riser shots.

I used a p106 Jokinen Bauer XX.

Its all how you shoot and personal shot style, but for me, my slap shots were easiy able to get up rising pretty quick.

I found that the curve is also good for quick snappers too.

my slappers are generally lower with the 106 for me compared to the lidstrom, as it's not as opened. haven't used a drury, but i love the 106. low lie, nice big heel, slightly opened, easy to control shots

The P92 is the sakic clone. There isn't really any retail pattern that is similar to the P106.

i dont really get why so many people think the p106 is so much like the sakic, i knwo theyre both open, but they are totally differnt curves

The P02 (Pronger) is open. Might take a peek at that in a store and check it.

Different blade shape though (square, as opposed to round).

EDIT: Just dawned on me.... the Pronger may be more of a Lidstrom curve.... in fact, thinking about it, it very well may be the case....
