XXX/Easton Synergy 1300C

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to buy some new skates since I just ended my season and Begining a whole new one for spring/summer. I called my LHS and got the prices of the Vapor XXX and the Synergy. I was just looking for some insight from people who already have them. What are good aspects of both and bad aspects of both. The Synergy's are also $40 more. Also promotions any new news? as I will be waiting if they have them. Thanks to all replys.

IMO, the durability issue on the XXs has been fixed for the XXXs.

I'm a Bauer guy, I've never worn the Synergys...

I would say the Synergys have a wider heel, and an overall different fit than the XXXs.

I would say try them both on at your LHS and choose which one fits your foot best. Really look for your foot to fill the whole skate and for the skate to act as a second skin, as my XXXs do with my feet.

One skate is going to fit your foot, and the other probably isn't going to come close. It's that simple. The Vapors and the Synergy skate are totally different in terms of what foot-type they will fit properly.

Go with the RBK 8k ! Same fit as the Vapor XXX but definetly more durable. Forget about the Synergies man. Those skates are soo stiff, and the 1300C is not any softer then last years model, I tried them on both, and both are bricks.

What if he likes stiff skates? How do you know the 8K is durable?

Because I believe the side panels are made of the same or very similar stuff as the Vector Pro skates, which are very durable. And the 8k is stiff too,its a top end model, but not stiff to the point where it hurts your feet.

i think it's very difficult to judge whether a skate is durable simply by matrial and whatever sort of stiffness. the vapor XX's sounded all well and good on paper but they didn't turn out too well. judging the durability of 8k's will have to wait until they have been out for a year

Exactly, the same goes for any super light skate RBK, XXX or L7.

They aren't the same as the Vector Pro - they are more similar to the new Pro Tacks. Totally new quarter package.

I'd try out the synergys, many shops have demo programs for them. They're worth a skate, you just may like them. I did.

a demo model breaks down after 5 ice times right. And is it yours to keep.

Kor was also planning a demo program. At the end of the season the dealer has the choice of buying the skates at a discount or sending them back for credit.

Easton gave away a bunch of the old synergy skates. A lot of shop employees got freebies. I wouldn't be surprised to see them do something similar.

is it free

I'm thinking its similar to demoing a tennis raquet. I'm guessing you'll have to pay like 10-15 bucks to do it and if you end up buying the skates from the shop, you get that money back or something of that sort. That's how it should work at least.

I'm doing the demo, it's free but you don't get to keep the skates. You rent them for about a week and then take them back, thats what my LHS told me. And I love stiff skates. I don't really prefer the razor blades though. I have only a set amout of money and putting new holders and blades on are too far over budget.

Dan-Are you from Edmonton? I remember maybe reading that you were..

If you are then at United you can change holders for 20 dollars, it's only the service fee you have to pay. No extra, because you trade the Razorbladz in for Tuuks, T-Blades, E-Blades, (ICM?), Cobra..etc.

I said that the Vapor XXXs were durable because I've had my pair since November.

I'm on the ice 7 days a week and the durability issue is definitely resolved...

Or maybe they make pro stocks more durable or something?
