ladystorm3 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 sorry justin, i just made this room because i wanted to see if anyone else missed the old skates.
sdcopp 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 :) Those are sweet Duck, the problem is I don't think the inline is quite on par with the ice. I've heard nothing but rave reviews for the ice skates, and have seen less than flattering results for the inline skates. Perhaps building to the same specs would be the road to go down for Mission? Eazy_b97 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 I thought the Ice were very similar to the roller. The Pure Fly were almost the same as the D- Limited, so I just assumed that the S500 and He950 were extremely similar as well.
ladystorm3 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 that frame is awsome.. ...i have only heard great things about the sensors,so they must be great.
stevoc 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 Those are awesome...I may need to do something similar w/ my red star frame. :D

The Pure Fly were almost the same as the D- Limited, so I just assumed that the S500 and He950 were extremely similar as well. The purefly was similar to the dlimited, the rest of the D series and the He series fit differently, which is why I converted the s500's to inline. I have another pair for ice as well though. sdcopp 1 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 The biggest issue with the inline this yr is the DNA eyelets, which aren't on the ice boots. I've also seen a couple pairs of 950 that crease and breakdown prematurely.

I've also seen a couple pairs of 950 that crease and breakdown prematurely. And that issue was fixed and people's skates were replaced. I don't think anyone with new 950 will have any creasing issues....I don't mind the complaints about our skates...We deserve it....Just remember that we fix all of our mistakes and replace skates that encounter problems... Oh, I've never doubted the customer service dept there, it'd just be nice to see the same quality coming out of the gates from Mission. As I said before, Mission was known for having the best inline skate hands down a few yrs ago. I did mention the Wicked Light and the VSI that had the Pro Team Generator as the shining examples of your work, and wish those skates were still readily available. #96 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2005 Mission Customer Service = A+ in my book. I've said it before, and will continue to say it. I now own Mission stuff in every piece of equipment I use/own, and am a proud supporter....However...I can't stand the DNA strands. I GAVE a pair of D1C's to a buddy because of them. Justin, in a post in this thread you eluded to "changes for next year". Does this mean no DNA? Please say yes, so I can get myself into a pair of new Missions.FYI- I am currently in my 1999 Proto VSI boots. I love them, they are still as stiff as when I got them, and I've been on them now for over 5 years. The only thing I had to do was change the chassis as the Carbon one cracked last year. I now have a Red Star on them, and they perform great. I love them like a child. I was hoping the D1Cs would replace them, sadly they did not. If I could get my hands on another pair, I would be a very lucky man. I'll be deeply hurt when they pass on to the big pond/court up in the sky with the hockey gods. shute 4 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 i think this years skates were the only line that i didn't like and that is only because the boots were all to soft... i for one loved all the other ones from the last two years as well. If they want to try something new for a year that doesn't mean it's a bad thing. except for this year can you name a skate that was better in the last two years to their lines as the time? name one and i'm sure you'll hear a lot more people who dislike it more then the mission lines from the same year. mission went light this year and not EVERYONE liked it... how many people here have honestly only used one brand of skates in ice or roller? mission as a company has always put out some of the best in the indistery year after year.. they may not be the BEST year after year but they are always near the top... how many other companies can you say has done the same... Nike, bauer, easton, CCM, graf, tour...? i'm sure anyone who has played enough hockey has beef with just about all of them. oh and btw i happen to like the DNA strands, much more comfy in the front of the foot. if justin was taking suggestions i would like to see a new boot built around a carbon exoskeleton which should keep the boot stuff and light at the sametime much like easton's and CCM. Also bring back the VIBE in a even smaller and lighter form and only use alloy classics with them. hmmm and also add some neon lights at the bottom to pimp them out. predshockey17 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 Justin, I hate to make it sound like im knocking Mission to. I just wasn't happy with my last few pairs from you guys. I will admit your customer service is the best in the industry. Maybe next year I will pick up a pair of Missions.P.S. For anyone who answered my question about the ccm skates, I changed my mine. I found an unused Mission pair circa 2000. 8 years in a row since I have used a non mission skate.
asdfa 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 not completely well versed in the roller world, but i'm curious, justin, how much emphasis is placed on the ability for the ankle to move? this could be the reason why the new skates seem so "floppy", maybe people don't like being able to move their ankles? ladystorm3 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 i love to feel snug around my ankles
SnakeEyes29 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 i like a tight fit, but i have to go down 2 eyelets so i can move my ankles enoughbut thats on most skates not just missions
mik3 1 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 Yeah, I have strong ankles, so I don't really care about a tight or stiff fit up there. Just give me enough in the forefoot and I'm ok. I have zero problems with the stiffness of my 950s
stevoc 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 I like to be able to pivet my ankles a little...if I tie my d1c's or d2c's too tight, it takes away the ability to move. (btw...love both my 2004 pairs mentioned, as well as my 2001 proto vs') :D I see lots of people at my rink wearing 950's an absolutely love them. The biggest complaint about them is the factory wheels...I've seen more blow out in games than any other brand.
Justin 1933 134 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 The lack of support/stiffness was not something we spec'd. As I said in a previous post, the manufacturer forgot to use a specific type of glue and that caused the skates to break down. The revised 950's are just as stiff as a D1c (if not stiffer). Has anyone received a replacement 950 yet?I appreciate all the support people have given us.
Chadd 916 Report post Posted April 12, 2005 I still long for skates or sticks I used in the past. The problem is that even if those products were brought back, they typically wouldn't hold a candle to the gear that is available now. As much as I loved my old 852s, there's no way that I'd buy them instead of the products available now. When you really like a piece of gear that you have owned, you tend to ignore little problems. Looking back, those problems are long forgotten and you only recall the things you liked about it. Add to that the fact that people tend to get more critical as they get older and it explains some of the problems with newer gear from any manufacturer.
