Edge 0 Report post Posted April 14, 2005 David Tanabe is probably one of the fastest skaters in the league. He's not very known but he is a solid defenseman. He can skate the puck up, and dish it off and even if the other team gets going the other way he can catch them no problem. Unfortunately he got injured early in the season last year for the 'yotes. Knee I think.
hip check 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 Wasn't Bret Hedican the fastest on the Canucks team when they had Bure and Mogilny? Seems to me I remember hearing that from the team skills competition. Anyone able to back that up?
Fletch 219 Report post Posted April 15, 2005 If we're including retired players, I'd have to go with Mike Gartner.

mattopiela 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Off the line Marian Hossa is one of the fastest guys in the league. He doesn't look that fast, but I've been to many Sens games and hes a rocket.

sherwood21 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 Nathan Perrott is the 'fastest' skater on the Leafs. Don't know about his quickness and response though.
Modo22 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2005 I can't recall if he is still playing, but Scott Young in 96 with the Avs! I have never seen someone move so fast and still be in control. I just can't think of anyone today.

Kovy_Ribs_Fedo 3 Report post Posted April 17, 2005 pavel datsyuk is the fastest not really... I'd say Datsyuk has the fastest thinking on the ice, but he's far from being the fastest skater.
dieselbro 0 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 My vote personally goes to Geoff Sanderson, he is a rocket! In the few Canucks games I went to last year he beat so many people to the puck in footraces.

mik3 1 Report post Posted April 20, 2005 I'm gonna have to agree with Rico Fata, if he's in open ice I don't think there's any defenseman in the league catching him from behind.

NCPUCK26 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2005 I'm gonna have to agree with Rico Fata, if he's in open ice I don't think there's any defenseman in the league catching him from behind. I agree, when I saw him play with Bure, Fata's speed was just unreal, and they were just such a deadly combination in terms of speed.
