Big month for me. @JR Boucicaut fitted me for custom Bauer Nexus V-Cuts at SJ and they came in about 3 weeks ago. I've been working through the break in process and the fit is unreal. I never realized how loose the fit was in my old skates. Kinda hurst like hell getting there because they are so much tighter then I was used too but well worth it. I already feel performance benefits. Details: Custom Nexus V-Cuts. Stock Nexus lining (wanted the new 1x grip-tec but couldn't get it). built in comfort edge (can't really see it), memory foams in ankles and heel pocket. Using LS2 steel and Edge holder. When I was baking them I also popped for these.... figured what the heck... If that wasn't enough decided to upgrade buckets and bought a back and white Re-Axt combo. (yup... marred and melted the bucket taking off the sticker... oh well....) No need to take pics of the white one..... Like I said... big month.... fun!!!

Are you talking about non-VH custom skates? Maybe I'm a minority on this, but my VH were the most comfortable skate I'd ever worn right out of the.. well, oven.

You have to grind the clips. We do it all the time in our store. I’ll take a picture of one tomorrow.

I need to finally pull the trigger on those custom V cuts. Good lord.

I did the same thing. I think I paid like 35 or 40 bucks for it. Killer bag for that price. I love being able to walk through doors easily with it. I get ribbed a little for it being a "backpack" bag, but then half the geezers on my team have wheelie bags so... I'm a big dude too (6'2" 260), but even with virtually all XL sized gear, I can make it fit. Now, I do stuff my elbows into my shins, into my pants, but it works out fine and make sure I don't forget anything. I always take my gear out to dry it after every use anyway. I put my skates in the main compartment and use the end compartment for towels, tool kit, etc. Even the large (though it's still only a 32") fits into the trunk in my BRZ (which was the real reason for getting a new bag in the first place). It's a small trunk, but the kicker is how low and small the opening is. I'm thinking about picking up another one of the easton bags while they're on sale for my roller gear, but I'm afraid I'll bring the wrong back to the wrong rink. The one thing I have had happen is a lot of the zipper pulls (the string part) come off. I just made some paracord zipper pulls that are a little bigger and easier to pull anyway.

Custom skates are not comfortable out of the box...they still need to be broken in.

IW's new bag actually looks really good: http://www.icewarehouse.com/IW_Hockey_Pro_Team_Carry_Bag_36/descpage-IWBAG36.html I think I've found my new bag :)

Went back to play a puck in the corner last night and my left skate got caught in a rut. Well, my foot stopped moving, but everything above it didn't. Ankle twisted awkwardly under me, immediately knew I sprained it. Was "okay" the rest of the game, just laced up the last eyelet and tightened down for some extra stability. But, per usual with these things, my ankle blew up the second I took my boot off and it is a pretty shade of purple this morning. Probably will be off the ice for a week or so.
