  1. Maybe I missed it, but I scanned through about 50 pages of this thread and didn't see it - does anyone know if you can get replacement achilles tendon guards for the older VH line? I have what I'd call a gen-3 of the VH skates, with the plastic tendon guard attached by a single rivet. One took a puck last night and completely shattered on ice. I looked online and they sell the newer True replacement guards, but I'm worried they won't fit the older VH line. Ideas?
  2. I have a pair of these new carbon pro insoles waiting to go into my 2nd pair of VH skates. Both original VH skates and superfeet yellow have worked very well for me. I'll come back and update in a month or so...
  3. Hi all, just an update. I've had my VHs for maybe 20 months now, and they're easily the best pair of skates I've had. My tendon guards are starting to break down, but given they see the ice 3-4 times a week I have no complaints. Will be ordering pair #2 shortly..
  4. +1 on the grip powder matte. Many of my teammates like the feel it gives as well...
  5. That curve is a site for sore eyes. Love it..
  6. YES! Perfect! Big long paddle, tall from heel to toe, closed/neutral face, low rocker, squarish (oblong) toe. Let me know when ready to order....
  7. Wow, just came across this, and feeling a HUGE sense of relief and excitement. Finally, a p10 clone, or something close with a 6+ lie. As a base customer, sign me up, I'm buying more sticks. And yes, should absolutely give it a pro Kane/Giroux name, because that's exactly what they're using (yet you can't find these anywhere.....yet). Do it Base!
  8. Hey Malarowski, I have the same flat duck feet and just put in a set of super feet yellow over the red bottom insoles. I cut them by just tracing the red insoles and I have zero pain. I can't skate without them, just a thought...
  9. Scott was very responsive with some small issues I had as well. I didn't need to send back, and after two months of skating (2-3 times per week) I love the skates. Amazing fit...
  10. To VT took maybe a week. Maybe the post office hates Crosby too?
  11. Yeah, it was either due to my request for the Graf holder or maybe I was overzealous with baking but the glue there came loose. I didn't notice until after a few skates. I used some loctite glue and just put it back together. It was a 3 minute fix...
  12. I switched from my Graf G35s to my VHs and hardly anyone noticed. I went with an all black "cleaner" look, but I don't think "cheap" of "sci fi" describes they way they look at all..
  13. Flip, no wonder I like these VHs. They are almost identical to my G35s from a side view. Here are two pics, one where the VH is behind the G35, then both back to back. Get on my VHs tonight for my first game in them...excited.
  14. I'll try to snap a comparison pic tonight when I get home...
  15. Received my VHs last night via USPS. I caught the mailman at 4:30 putting them into the lockbox. I told him they were a box of skates, he did not believe me (very light). I baked them last night per the instructions. One thing I should mention is that because of the way that they fit (super snug around the foot like a cradle) and because I skate barefoot, I had to stop mid-process and go find some thin socks. The eyelets were really hot and started to burn my foot. I accounted for everything else....except safety apparently. The baking resumed and I let them sit overnight. I skated on them tonight for about 45 minutes. They felt surprisingly like my Graf G35s, just lighter and more comfortable. It's been said, but these skates HUG your feet and really lock them into place. There were no hot spots or pressure points (I usally have toe box issues, but not today!), and overall they were very comfortable. The only "downside" is how hard they are to get on and off. I'm ok with it though because my feet were completely locked into the skates. I can't compare that to any other skate I've worn. The best example I could give would be like a really thick sock that you put on that has a blade at the bottom. Overall my foot and skate felt very connected. About a minute in I was skating like I have worn these for several years. Very impressed. I'll come back and give an update in a few months. I can't speak to durability right now, but these puppies are nice... Thanks Scott for getting those Graf holders on for me and making such a nice skate..
  16. Re: PS and Optimus, yes Scott installed the Graf holders for me. I've been on Grafs for a long time, and I own 4 pairs of the Velocity Step steel (272) that I had custom profiled and I do sharpen by mail with noicing. I also like the ease at which I can change out the steel on the cobra holders, so I had to wait a little longer, but Scott was able to get the holder installed for me. Test drive tomorrow, excited to see how they feel. Crazy light. I told the mailman they were a pair of skates in the box, he didn't believe me...
  17. Just got these tonight. Heat molding as we speak. Hoping to take for a first spin tomorrow..
  18. I can only go by what Joe told me. I'm interested in a customized pair of DT1s, if no go I'll consider a narrow pair of franchises. I'll dig around again sometime in Jan. and see what the word is. Makes total sense that they expand their customized line given how much they could make per pair...
  19. From what I'm told Warrior is expanding their "customizable" gloves in Jan. 2014. Gonna sit tight for a few weeks and see what models they offer then (crossing fingers for Luxe and dt1)...
  20. Curious. It seems like maybe there's no "true" clone to the x60/Apx. I do like the tons of options to choose from, but I'm a little overwhelmed not knowing what to pick..
  21. Hi all. Been trying to find out which type of Warrior glove I should consider looking at if I like the Bauer x60s/newer Apx gloves. I like the tight fit in the fingers and more wrist mobility. Any suggestions? Thanks..
  22. +1 in the 100/50. I know what you mean about balance. The higher step steel felt awkward for a few weeks...
  23. Speaking of accuracy, I've had noicing cut 4 pairs of fbv blades for me, and each one feels exactly the same. I feel like I'm cheating with how consistent the blades feel week after week. Thx Jimmy!
  24. Currently using 100/50, I prefer something that sticks just a little better. I'm thinking of 100/75 or 95/75. Either way, noicingsports does a great job.
