No issues with feet, unable to reduce huge heel area. Somebody is having a difficult time giving me a Custom Junior Skate that I have paid for and by accepting my money a contract has been entered into and I don't believe they can deliver. If I was someone is buying a custom junior skate, you better make it very clear and be on their back with all other measurements by hand as well as the scanner. I let another LHS in on my story today and he was shocked at what he heard. He even apoligized!! That's all I need to say. Cheers 🙂

Thanks for the suggestion, I will just say much less except perhaps a very short update on True. BTW my feet just are a C at the heel, when True has given me a D-E. I put on and took off my skates with every lace in an eyelet. I need the best custom Bauer or CCM - 5c and I believe CCM has the only one, unless I missed it. Also, I don't see I see anything for helping pronation, anybody else see differently? Thanks
-
I have emailed Rob as I mentioned before, hold you r rocks, but I did it for us. I said to him that True is creating a problem with the QC of mine now others as well they do not communicate well to the LHS when skates are sent back for "issues" they come back with little info of what they have done. That was about a month ago now and I am still seeing QC problems form not just some inexperienced worker, but management as well!
-
Very much appreciated! Thanks
-
Oldtrainerguy posed a question initially about my scans and I expounded upon the scanning issue he brought up. My last pair still had that issue and I told, in short, the poor service and exactly what happened in the end or now near end. I have emailed Rob about the problem with QC and getting back with information, but that did not help. I did that for all of us. Perhaps most here are pro True supporters that don't want to hear any negativity.

I cannot recall, but as far as I know nobody told the LHS to re-calibrate their scanner because I asked my local shop. I also found out that about 5 or 6 of their employees have the True skates using the scanner and have no issues. I don't know what to say except now Rob had used the scan and it must have been mine and wrong. If you don't mind I would like to add a little here as I don't want to start another war with the members so I will take this opportunity. What I don't understand is that Rob blames an inexperienced worker for not picking up on one variable then continues to say he has it under control yet he misses the mark on the next skate, by a wide margin! Looking back now, Rob was not looking at all my data either and may have relied on the scan for my foot. On my initial request form, when I sent in my money and my skate size and width and that I need a narrower boot than the D etc. I get this service! I know it was all a big mistake, but by the make of my third skate it should have been explained to me clearly that it will not fit well in the heel area, the very thing I wanted. Just before getting these skates, I get this from Rob, telling me my foot size wrongly - "Both feet measure 254 mm. Both scans that were taken confirm that". By my mistake I thought he was talking blade size of 254 v my 246 mm. As Mixed up as I was, Rob must have been only using the scan data and did not go back to the original data I submitted, contrary to what he said should be done. I am learning just now that it looks like a Custom Junior is not really custom and that Rob saw this after the mistakes started to get ironed out just before the 3rd and final remake. Rob, out of the blue, asks me for my blade size! I give that to him wondering why he does not have it. Right after this my the third pair of skates were made that fit quite well with the proper length, but a heel pocket was wider than my original Bauer. My main goal in ordering the True's was to get a narrow skate, a C you would call it now I have probably an E that I am slipping and sliding in and can't control my pronation as it is too wide. I had also asked Rob to speak with me by phone before any skate was to be made, but that was not done and I was going to question the heel width as he was going to "shave it off to fit" and I was going to ask If shot blockers would make the boot stiffer. But, no phone call and the skates are delivered. My apologies for adding more of my stuff on the post, but I should have been told from the start that I could not be fitted for Custom Skates and I would not have ordered them and not been on this forum. I did nothing wrong in this whole mess and now have to get out of it, more emails or phone calls 4 months later. Sorry Guys and thanks for listening -
-
I am not going to bother trying to look for this, apparently you felt you had to prove someone wrong! Let me know the date of my post and I will review it. Thanks
-
Thanks for your empathy after four months of all this and I am not finished! Nobody from True has said that any scan was wrong, but late in December with many emails back and forth I could only assume that there must have been a fault with the scan, but as I say, I have never been told that directly. However, further issues remained with just plain human error.
-
Thanks, sounds straight now!
-
I am still getting it wrong! I hit the plus 1 post of Sniper9 that's all. I did clean up my post, it will make lore sense if read again. I have a lot of info where True has overlooked a lot of data on my skates and instead of looking at their own records were asking me questions that were they had all along on the purchase records. This is directly why I had so many issues as well the scans were wrong initially, if they were my skates!
-
I am really glad to see that you have persevered. I'll bet you 100% you had a senior skate custom built! I am still having troubles trying to get a proper custom built junior skate since September! Cheers though, They do try to please!
-
Rob may be able to narrow the heel area, I would call True and get Rob to try and get what you want, don't wait and discuss your problem at the source, seriously! That's why it is nice to have the tracings and not just the scan. I learned the hard way, if I had that in the beginning I would have not had all the trouble that I have had now. Mind you, the majority get their skates done properly, but any peculiarities, I would call Rob to make sure you get what you want. Alan
-
I would have your LHS send your foot tracings in as well, even after they sent the scan and their assessment. Make sure that the LHS gave them your present skate size and width plus the blade length and normal shoe sizing just so there are no mistakes made. For width, you should be fine if you have a skate size larger than 5.5! Or you get a D width only!
-
I came from the insurance claims management world, never heard of this. Slipped on a banana though!
-
You got to be kidding, perhaps a devious competitor even that's hard to believe, but for for someone to say they just tried it!?

My apologies to everybody for my post, but I was trying to reach SuperJet I believe in that he worked last year or last Summer with Rob I and I believe he gave a wrong impression about those that complain too much about their skates. With that I tried to shorten up my problems and I pressed the + button so that I did not fill the forum. I am still confused on this one so I post very infrequently and carefully when I do it. I did shorten up my predicament and you should read it again it may surprise you. I wanted to show this member, SuperJet, (and I hope I got this right), that there really are problems with some makes of skates from True and the QC and communication is lacking in fact I emailed Rob indicating that very thing and it is on MSH just to help the this forum and indicated that True has to do better. This was not for me, I had already been talking to Rob, but not as early as OldTrainerGuy suggested and he was right. I take it there has been no better QC and communication yet, has anyone else? Anyway, that out of the way I did get a pair of skates 3 months after and had my first game January 3rd. I thought the skates were good, but not what I anticipated except my pronation was gone which was wonderful, but again I need to play a few more games to really test them out and looking forward to next week. ***It is funny that after my second post of my problems everybody wanted to jump on the bus for me and see how much I can get out of True for the trouble they have caused me and then after thinking about this I said no, enough and virtually took myself off for a month or so. Now I am known as the guy that screwed up the thread! Cheers - Alan (SMU)

Sk8St6, 1) I risk expressing myself again as I know I have addressed my skate issues before in this form, but I want you and SuperJet to see where a real mistake can take you, plus understand what I needed in a boot to get myself over my center of gravity. Once I am over my edges I feel like I can do anything! I will really try to make a long story of three months short! 2) I also really wonder about this Pro-Fit - nothing says this right? When I purchased my skates in August or early September my skates came out as the Junior price as expected, a size 5 with a 246 mm blade. I have always taken a size 5 Bauer and CCM Tack. When I received my skates through the LHS on September 28th they said that True indicates that my skates are a senior size and that I owe them the extra $200 plus tax, which I paid knowing if they work, no problem. Apparently they now use the size of the holder as the cut off point with a senior skate and with these skates they had a holder size of 254 mm and a 254 mm blade! When we opened the box it was apparent, even before putting them on that they were far to long and wide a fit for me. But, my LHS suggested I try them first then if they are to large back they go with reasons. This done we sent them back outlining that they have to be a full size and one half larger than they should have been. I have to say they were really huge on the ice, but I had no pronation problem (later learned that it was just because of the really stiff boot and would not last). They were sent back indicating the largeness problem and the fact that the holders were not on straight, but never got a reply. On Nov 5th my LHS received the skates back, but the skates were the identical skates that we just sent away? They just had taped in toe fillers to make the skates feel as if I could feather my toe box, I guess and feel as if they fit me! Again these were sent back immediately and again with all the information that they were way to large and something isn’t right and why is no one even looking at the holders etc. I also included a second scan. So I don’t go into too much I will skip some great details. I phone True on Nov 30th and get management and they indicated immediately that the problem was solved, and one measurement was out of three taken and was way out and should have been caught by the assembly worker who used that data to make the skate! All seemed OK now and another skate was to be made and sent immediately and it was, but again it felt too large and I could fit an over 13 mm penlight down to the bottom of my heel with my foot in the skate easily! This would be the equivalent of 1.5 sizes! They felt loose on the floor when I was at the LHS and they wrapped them to bring in the skates as much as they could, but I tried them out and they felt worse than the first pair I received. I was slipping as if my skates were not sharp but they were. Then it gets to be frustration time with True. I was trying to suggest sending my Bauer boot, my tracings of my foot length length and my measurement of volume of my foot as my foot is slim, but it was not wanted nor needed I was told. I could add more here, but better not. I was finally asked what was my blade size was and I answered 246 mm. After that my skates were made!!! I have used them once as noted and they feel good, but as I told True I am apprehensive about the issue with the insole or last as I was told that a small amount was shaved off the heel, but from my photos there was hardly any shaved off and in particular since my Bauer skate is what I was referring to and this skate was larger than than the Bauer and certainly not for me! I need this skate as narrow as my foot will take to keep my pronation in check. Where does that leave me now with a skate that was paid for in August with a six month warranty and I am only getting a working one now, maybe? For this one game I played it was good but not perfect, but I need more than one game, but where will it be in a month or so. I need it stiff and narrow along with the pronation fix. Scot Van Horne’s video did push me to the Trues and I opted for them after trying all the size 5 skates on in the LHS, all the 5D’s I tried on and none fit. I have been using the Junior Bauer size 5 D for the past 15 years. I had found through the good sources of Jeff Gray, C.Ped OST of Superfeet and also one of our members Vet88 about pronation issues. I had been posting my skates but they were temperamental because, as I found out the heel and ankle in the wide D skate was to large for me and were too wide in the heel and ankle area. I need a narrow skate, or size C, to reduce the size and volume in this area and I thought I did one better by buying a pair of custom True skates! Cheers - Alan

You are on the right track with the pronation or supination topic, someone tried to tell me a month or so ago that there are not many of us pronators! Getting back to the heel issue, mine is just about the exact same size as the larger pair I had before. I was also told that these are not custom outsoles and (my words - I get what I get) then I was told an attempt would be made to make the heel bottom a bit smaller, but really there is not much difference from the last time, but my main goal, with True, was to get a narrower skate! I need a few more games before I make any assessment. I want to make sure I do have that heel lock and then if the skates are too wide I fall into exactly what you are saying, a pronation issue down the road, then what. Will True fix them for a price or not deal with me at all. To this point I can say that I have done nothing wrong, I have kept calm and cool. I am perturbed about the long wait though and did not complain for sometime contrary to what I should have done. Alan

No problem, but this was not supposed to have gone off the tracks, some questions were asked and answered. It was not until Snipr got involved do this get into a heated affair with his comment. In a new thread I wonder now who would be a person to contact at True? The CEO? This would be so we can get things right or just to get answers as to why certain things were done or happened? Again I go back to saying that I have alerted / advised my contact at True that there really should be better QC and as well more communication with the customers and to the LHS when things go wrong. I know this time it was small thing, a rivet was not seated properly and I played my first game with one rivet almost coming through just below my toe. I was not about to try and take these recently baked skates off my feet at the bench either as I would the have missed the game! I did get that fixed at my LHS, but there have been so many issues like this as it seems that no attention is paid to the overall look at the product before it leaves the factory. It is just unbelievable! I have had my skates back 4 times and that is not to say I have had 4 pairs of skates, but in everyone there was some QC issues among others that went along with the main problem.

Vet88, I have been told that if a heavy person stands while the boots are cooling that the hot holders can be warped (along wit the blade). It sounds plausible, but wit my weight at 130 lbs I suppose I could do it, but I would not be allowed and would not want to take a chance for more blades being curved! Alan

Hey Snipe, try waiting for your skates for 3 months and until now the skates are very close. So, when you can say you have gone through what I have don’t call me out with OCD, I now more about skates than you ever will, by the way you talk! If you think about calling someone out again know the subject matter, but you never will with this problem. I have had constant issues with True’s quality control and lack of proper communication since the end of September and I asked to have a telephone conversation before True decided to make the last skate, but as usual they go ahead and build them and not from the erroneous information on the length they had, but finally information that I gave them otherwise I would be back to the October / November problem. Would you not be a somewat apprehensive if you have gone through what I have with constant errors emanating from True! I did see a possible problem, but I am glad that I have been as vigilant as I have or I would be wearing a size 6.5 or a 7 skate now instead of my 5 to 5.5 now. Too bad you don’t use what you have upstairs at times! Finally I have a good game Thursday and you just seemed to ruin the fun I had. As you said previously, please don’t reply!

Thanks for answering, but no my feet are not unusual, just smaller and correspondingly less volume. My Bauer skates as I mentioned fit really well, but I did not realize that a D was too large for my heel and ankle area and a C width was all that I needed. But, True seems to be still in the past and using the very wrong first two scans that all I know is that the length is wrong and the same on both. They indicated that a 3rd scan was not needed and told me not to bother to end my foot tracing to make sure of the length nor the volume dimensions I wanted to do for them I was told it was a waste of my time! It was only around December 18 did they tell me that their size for me was 254 mm when I was trying to tell them it was 245 mm at the most and could be close to 240 mm. The 254 probably gave me those 6.5 or 7s way back in September and October I would imagine. Yet just before they start to see that they may have the wrong numbers is when I offered to make a tracing and they say not necessary then suddenly ask me for my Bauer holder size! Once I give it I get the skates almost immediately. By this point I have already demanded to be called before any skate is made, so that I can have a discussion of what is being done to them as so many things have gone wrong and the time frame has bee ridiculous etc., etc. Then get an email saying; 1) We have started a new pair for you based on this info. The length will be built at 246mm based on the feedback below. 2) I have narrowed the heel as well. 3) I am making adjustments to the arch that we have had outstanding results for pronation issues. As well, I am going to mount the holders a hair medial, to assist as well. There is nothing wrong with my feet that a proper fit won't cure. My feet are not unusual, just on the narrow side of the chart with lower volume that goes along with that, no different than an E or EE, on the other side of the chart. Unusual, no and may be visible in my uploads a month or so ago. Here we go to start over again! Thanks - Alan

I am with you, I loved my Bauers, but they were a D width and I need a C then I could work on my pronation by just posting the medial sides of the heel, but in order to get a good boot and also have it custom made I went to True. Oh GAWD, I just realized that my heel is still the same wide width as before. I had exactly 2" wide shims for pronation that fit nicely in the heel pocket in my Bauers and my first go with True to make me a smaller, narrower skate these wedges were swimming in the heel pocket as the skates were made way to large. But, here is where I find myself saying "they must have fixed things this time" and now I have my flashlight and ruler etc out and take a look. I just put in one wedge in the heel pocket and if the heel pocket has been narrowed then you must need a magnifying glass. So there is no difference from my Bauers. There has been no narrowing of what I was looking for initially. It took me 3 hours trying on skates in the LHS just to make the move to True because I could not find one good skate to fit me properly in a narrow skate. Now this, I am really tired of all this and going back and forth with True. The time I have spent so far is astronomical and the 3 months lost in my life and on the ice! My whole family is sick of me talking about it, the same as it was on our the MSF! Now custom bottom sole here and no meaning full fix at all as promised! Cheers - Alan
