  1. Any word on a retail price? Those look tremendous.
  2. Yes. The stock CXN holder and steel are a total +3 pitch (+2 holder, +1 steel) with a 9' radius. The Step steel comes at neutral (+0) so you've only got the +2 from the holder, and it comes stock at a 10' radius.
  3. You can also swap the steel to Step and change the profile down to +2 and switch to a 10' radius in a single step. Pun intended.
  4. Tuuk LS2, LSE, CCM SB 4.0, and CXN have identical mounting patterns.
  5. It will be weeks or months before plans for the Easton lines are made public. I would pick up another pair of makos on deep discount and prepare for the worst.
  6. I have both Combat and Stevens and greatly prefer the padding and look of the Stevens. I wear a Farrell padded short under my Stevens and find the protection very adequate.
  7. Just had my runners done up at NoIcing with a 90/75 and a 8/14' combo radius. FBV is noticeably better for me than ROH ever was. I'm kind of in shock.
  8. So many innocent skate lines gone too soon. NMEs...Megas...Daousts...Makos....
  9. The video and literature really pushes the aggressive stance of the CXN holders and steel. I'd argue the negative space and fit features are secondary to the stance in that skate.
  10. That would also defeat entirely the purpose of the skate.
  11. On second glance, those are indeed 2000s. Was looking on my phone.
  12. I really feel that taller skaters need a very aggressive forward pitch to maximize knee bend. I put lifts on my CXN rear towers to help get me in a proper skating position. Cvik is 2" taller than me so those ridiculous wedges are probably proportional given the length of his holder. Of note, his old Grafs had the 322mm Cobra 2000 molded holder. These must be 306mm.
  13. Logo featured prominently, too. I wonder if they've started paying the NHL on-ice licensing fee...
  14. Skated a college series this weekend in my VHs, and am noticing a pronounced pain above my left kneecap. It's a nagging, dull ache that goes away when I apply pressure to the quadriceps tendon. This is the same pain that made me stop using them for awhile last season, too. It sucks, because I get amazing performance out of these skates and my feet feel great, but I can hardly bend my leg without dosing up on ibuprofen immediately the next day.
  15. The CXN holder is definitely more aggressive than the SB4.0 holder. You could always get Step Steel for the CXN so you have better steel quality and will hold an edge longer. For me, the combination of the VH boot's aggressive forward cut and the CXN holder would be too much, but that's my preference.
  16. Skated with him this summer. Lots more guys in that locker room had VH skates and many were converts this summer. Pavelski was in Makos so this isn't a huge surprise.
  17. No rust, and I have acidic sweat -- can't keep lacquer on a trombone to save my life.
  18. No prob. I noticed the other day I was bottoming out a lot as well, but only when I play. Lining I don't turn as sharply and it's not an issue.
  19. You could start with 4mm, as that's what Bauer, CCM, and Easton all selected for the new generation holders...
  20. Lots of VH skates in the NHLers bags at my summer rink. Not too many look used, though.
  21. No, it's for things like broken holders (Bauer's clear light speed holders), boot stitching failures (CCM RBZ), quarter separation (CCM U+), or ankle abrasions (Easton Mako). You have been shitting all over VH since the skate came out. Do you own a pair? No? Then you're just being a dick.
