  1. Okay. I can ask him myself then. If he can't do it, I will just send them to a shop near by, thanks. Overall though, how do you like these skates? Do you find they offer a good level of protection from pucks, sticks, etc?
  2. Mimizk- Did VH profile your blade for you at all when you ordered? Im thinking about getting my VH's with Step Steel, and I'm pretty certain it comes with a neutral, 10' radius. I'd like to stick with a 9', like my current LS2 runners, and perhaps get a slight forward pitch added to it... But maybe not if the boot is already fairly aggressive.
  3. Awesome. I wasn't able to view everything here at work, but Im glad to find out it's so simple. Definitely on my radar.
  4. Can you describe the ordering process a bit? I'm considering going down the VH route because no modern skates really fit my feet right now. Mako's do, but I worry about the skimpy level of protection they offer.
  5. What skate did you come from before the Makos? How did you find the adjustment period to the increased pitch?
  6. Interesting. Good to know, will def get them baked if I plan to buy them before I actually buy it. I'd love to be able to fit into 8.5's over a 9.
  7. Well Cosmic, the thing was, I could fit my foot into the 9D, and my toes were in perfect position. I don't think I'd want an 8.5 as I don't really see how baking would make the boot any longer.... I appreciate the idea though, and I understand to get a true fit, I need to bake. In all honestly, I wasn't ready to spend $800 for an entirely different skate than I currently have, especially because I am pretty happy with my Vapor XXVs. I want to see more long term reviews of the Mako IIs before I actually consider spending that kind of money.
  8. Well, my foot fit and I knew I wasn't going to buy them on the spot. I assume the fit wouldn't get worse with a baking.. So...
  9. I tried the Mako II's on this weekend. Coming from Vapor XXV's. The fit was really great, just a touch of pain in my midfoot, but that would likely go away with a bake, and maybe a punch if needed. Probably going to wait to see if the durability issues get fixed this with generation of Mako before I go buying them.
  10. Is there a website or anybody on here who also knows the pitch angle of each manf's holders? Example, (making this up) Bauer TUUK LSE being 76mm tall in the front, and 82mm tall in the back, etc etc.
  11. Yeah I think the stock radius for Vapors is 9' so what really messed me up was going from roller back to ice again, because my roller's have a super long radius in comparison. I think the radius of the mako blade and Vapor blade is the same no? Just different pitch angles I thought. Do you think somebody who wears Vapors would find these too wide then?
  12. Thank you for that description. I often find I get toe pain with my Vapors and what I call "foot ache" because they just justttt a touch too tight, esp on my right foot. My right pinky toe has also developed a monster callous from years of the toebox rubbing on it a bit too much. However, I've only ever tried on Supremes (too wide) and CCM (waaay too wide) so I defaulted to Vapor. Volume of the skate feels ok as the foot ache seems to come more on the sides, mid foot and fore foot. Heel lock... Is pretty darn good, it does slip a little. Def excited for the mako II/m8, but I am apprehensive of the pitch. Esp b/c I play roller, too .. and as you know you end up with a fairly long/flat pitch. I skated for 3 months straight on my roller's and went back to my Vapors. First step on the ice I almost face planted because the pitch felt so extreme. Took me an entire 2 skates to get used to it again. Yikes.
  13. Quote function not working for me.. but this is @ louierev07 What is it about the CXN holder you like so much? How long did it take to adjust to it? I may be interested in your holder and steel from your apx2, PM coming your way. Can you briefly describe the fit from the Vapor vs the Mako? I'm currently in Vapor XXVs, 9D
  14. I just watched the review from IW. It seems like a nice skate, but no mention of weight vs Mako II. Can anybody compare the pitch of the holder and blade radius to that of Vapors? I'll be trying these on in a few weeks, and I'm going to be a bind if they end up fitting me better than my current Vapors. I'm worried I won't ever be able to deal with the higher pitch of this holder compared to Bauer.
  15. Curious as to how the RBZ 130 would compare against the Mako M5. Looking at getting either of these two. Looking for good chest protection & mobility, and of course light weight. My last pair of shoulders were al old ass pair of jofa's.
  16. Helmet: Bauer 5100 w chrome cage Shoulders: None.. Wear Reebok padded shirt (non checking league) Eblows: Bauer one80 Gloves: Easton Stealth Pants: Bauer one80 Shins: Bauer one80 Skates: Bauer Vapor XXV Sticks: Warrior Diablo Gionta 75 Flex, Easton S17 shaft Warrior Blade Ever since I've gotten into Warrior sticks, I'm tempted to try their other line of products. Can anybody give a short comparison of their gloves and other equipment compared to others? Or link a website/thread in here that does? Thank you.
  17. Thank you. I think I will wait until Mako 2's come out. MY current Vapors are only 6 years old and I think I can get another 1-2 years out of them. (Only played 1-2 times a week on average)
  18. Question- Will the D or "R" fit in the Mako's be a good fit for a person who is in Vapor's, but experiences some mild pinching in the outer mid-foot area and pinky toe? I've read these fit a bit wider than Vapors.
