I've had mine in for 6-9 months or so for 2-3 skates per week. They still feel fine, and frankly, I'm not sure how they'd "fail". I guess they may become less "spongy" but I haven't noticed any of that yet. Mine are in my Mako's FWiW.

Definitely. I also felt like one side was longer than the other. Either way, I went and got a new pair. A guy I skate with stepped on a skate lace on the ice and ran full steam into the boards. Injured himself pretty badly. Ever since he told me the story, I'm real conscious of skate laces.

I bought a set of inserts for my ice skates and MikeBoyarchuk, you guys sent me the Mako version. I recently had my local Perani's round me up a set for my Mako inlines, and the guy seemed to have no idea there were any options other than senior or junior. I told him to find me a "Mako version" but he just called to tell me they're in, and for some reason I doubt they're right. How can I tell if the inserts are the special Mako version from the packaging, and if they aren't, how do I instruct this guy how to obtain the proper inserts?

Welcome! I had the same experience and totally agree. I've had mine for 6 months or so and have kind of gotten used to (spoiled by) them. I strapped on my (Bauer) inline skates recently and remembered how lucky I am to have found this thread.

Thanks! That's good to hear

I bought a pair of M8's to convert to inline skates. Once I got them I realized I liked the non-orange tendon guard of the M8's better than the orange one on my Mako II's that I use for ice. So my question is, is there any functional difference between the two? Can I swap the Mako ii extendon guard with the M8 one and have the same performance? And before someone else has to point this out, I do realize this is a stupid question, I'd just like as little orange on my hockey skates as possible.

I have both too and my skates feel like a dream. That said, I've had the Powerfoot on to my felt toe cap for 3-4 months and they stick just fine.

Glad to hear. I'm looking forward getting a set for my inline skates this spring. And to think, I'll just have to drive to Livonia! For anyone curious, I've had mine in my Mako's for a couple months now, and wouldn't want to skate without them.

Knock yourself out. For the record, this is exactly the type of thing I came to this site in search of. Small, (relatively) inexpensive modifications to equipment that make a noticeable difference on the ice. With all due respect to the powerfoot, this could have easily been a DIY-type project, but for less than $20 US, it's just not worth my time to try and re-invent.

Just got mine and have skated on them twice. I have the small ones for the Mako ii's and I absolutely love them. They fill in the only bit of negative space in the entire skate and do so in a nice, cushioned manner. Maybe someone else will hate them, but I can't think of a reason why filling in the dead space above your toes could ever be a negative.

Sounds good. And I wanted to say that your participation on this site, along with the customer service others have shared here on the boards, were a major factor in my purchase. I wish other companies were as proactive in pleasing their customers as your's seems.

Have you found people having a hard time keeping them stuck to the felt in Mako ii boxes? I already ordered a set so I'm committed either way. I have a boot dryer I dry my skates with so I'm not worried about them drying, and I'm sort of a set it and forget type of guy, so I'd like them to stay put. I was pleased to find a discount code online, and with the Canadian conversion rate, mine were well under $20 US with shipping. Looking forward to try them.

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll give them a try.

How did you stick them to the top of the toe box? Mine feel like they've got tounge felt there. I want to order them, but I'd like to make sure they're comparable with my mako ii's

Count me among the legion of Mako lovers. I found a new pair of ii's on ebay for around three bills and took the plunge. They just came in the mail yesterday and I took them to TH and baked them. I printed out the box-top baking instructions from page 85 of this topic and I'm glad I did, because the kid looked at them like they were written in French. I think he figured it out tho, cause once he brought them out for me they felt like heaven. Like I've read here on the forum, they were too small beforehand and afterward felt like god had crafted them specifically for my feet. I haven't had the chance to skate on them yet, but thank you ModSquad for once again putting me up on a great piece of gear that I never, ever would have given a second thought to otherwise.
