The Stars are operating on a budget and you want them to pay two players to fill one spot? Plus, Modano's style of play is not made for the 4th line. We have plenty of guys that can do a better job of filling that role at a cheaper price. I don't see Modano signing for less $1 million and that's just too much for a 4th liner.
-
Still doesn't answer the question of where to put Modano. He's not going to play on one of the top two lines. We saw that this past season when Ribeiro was out with an injury. Benn was moved to center because Modano was not performing well as the second line center. That means if the Stars re-signed Modano he would be forced to play the role of a 3rd of 4th line player. I'd rather have Wandell or Sutherby or Peterson or Gagnon fill out the bottom two lines.
-
From a PR standpoint, not offering Modano was a poor choice. He is the face of the franchise. It just looks bad to not even offer him a contract. That being said, it was the right move to make. I would rather have Wandell and Peterson/Sutherby centering my 3rd and 4th line than Modano. He floated a lot last the last two seasons. That's not a quality you want in a 3rd or 4th line center. Even if the Stars trade Ribeiro, they still have six players under contract who can play center (Richards, Benn, Wandell, Peterson, Sutherby, Ott) and several more centers in the AHL. Modano simply became a luxury that the Stars cannot afford.

Well if people on the other side of the world approve of our President he must be good.

As others have already said, congratulations on your first NHL goal. I hope we see many more this season.
-
Just saw the goal. Awesome move. Easily the best goal of the series so far.

Here's an article about the Blues prospects and the development camp that the Blues are holding. About half way through there is a section about David and his "interesting" skates.

another one 90 question about sizing...
donkey87 replied to mattopiela's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
In your first post you didn't ask what size you would wear in One90s, you asked how to order custom skates and you got an answer. JR even found you a store. I can understand that you are excited and can't wait to get some new skates, but pre ordering them over the web is asking for trouble. If you're having problems finding your size a LHS will be very helpful. If you pre-order there is no guaranty that the size you order will be the right size for you. Then you'll have to go through the hassle of returning them and exchanging them for another size. Just wait for a LHS to get them in stock and then go try them on. -
That new link works. I like the black holders. Those skates look good.

http://www.hockeymonkey.com/warrior-sfak27gripsr.html I saw one at my LHS, but I didn't pay much attention because I prefer tapered shafts. The shaft itself is pretty light, and the grip isn't bad.

He's been using Warrior sticks for a couple of games. Before that he was using Inno sticks. He must not have a deal with Bauer for sticks.

Update: TPS Adrenaline whip flex Nash curve TPS Rubber Shaft whip flex with Easton wood blade Sakic curve

hockeymonkey's site says that it will be available in a 110 flex. So they are probably just waiting for the 110s to arrive. Same reason they only have the new TPS shafts in stiff flex. They haven't recieved all the new gear yet,

The Vapor XX shaft, was a Europe only product. There is also a XXX lite shaft, but it is Europe only. There is a thread with pictures of it somewhere. -
2006 NBH Player/Accessories Catalogue
donkey87 replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in 2006 Product Catalogue Reviews
Thanks to JR and Logan for getting the catalogue up. I'm a little disappointed that NBH doesn't have any tapered shafts this year, but the One60 stick does look promising. I might have to sitch back to wood. -
I believe that it has do with preventing Easton distributers from competing with each other. This way US distributers don't compete with Canadian distributers, who don't compete with European distributers.

I like the people who will pay $200 for a stick, but don't want to pay more than $30 for a helmet. Which is more important: your head or having a stick that is 10 grams lighter then any other stick?

I hate it when people come it to get fitted for skates, then leave to buy them off the internet. I also hate when parents let their kids tear up the store. One time I found kids diving into the goalie pads, then the parents got mad at me when I told the kids to stop.

The Pulse is a Mission stick. It's their new top of the line stick. Not sure of the price, but $160-$180 would be my guess.
