Shot blockers, not worth it. T-Guard tongue, worth it.

Got my 2017/2018 Bauer Vapor 1x pro-stock skates this weekend. With steel, they weigh in at 884 grams vs my 2018 True skates, without shot blockers, with Tuuks holders and the same steel, which tip the scales at 952 grams.

I promise it will go. Just keep putting pressure on it.

It's all junk. In fact, Bauer steel is mostly all junk. Dont waste your money.
-
Once they are attached to the helmet you will be able to use enough force to clip the two together.

I never back any of the kickstarter projects, the rate for failure is too high. I read somewhere that only 10% fail but then another independent study showed it was more like 50%.

I switched from a small Warrior Covert QRL pants because the pants were sliding down and I don't like the suspenders. They're also baggy in the legs. I'm now in the Bauer TotalOne HP girdle. I like the fit but it's it's tight around the waist when I'm sitting on the bench. I can barely breathe!
Any other girdles that may have a better fit around the waist for a guy with no hips?
Girdles are super snug and will not slide at all. They leave enough room for you to move comfortably too.

We just donate them to the hockey club if we win anything

CCM in fact encouraged retailers to participate.

I got a hat, stick, and a pin. I didn't win the stick but was still happy to get it 🙂

I have seen a bunch of them in pro stock but none in retail. Yet.

I recently switched from the AS1's to the Bauer 1X's because I was having some of the same issues. I had some pretty bad cramps in the bottom of my feet but luckily I didn't get to the point of blistering the way you have. However I can tell that it probably wouldn't have been to much longer before I did. After having them the better part of three months and trying to make them work, I was beginning to get a lot of heel movement and my feet were starting to get chaffed up pretty bad. I tried baking them a second time and even different lacing patterns to make the skates tighter and all that did was affect my circulation and make my feet go to sleep. The AS1's are extremely stiff and I think are a great skate if you have the right foot for them but from the sounds of it, you might want to look elsewhere. If you are inclined to stay with CCM, the profile of the FT1 might give you that fit and lock you are looking for. Even though I was reluctant at first to make the switch to the Bauer 1X, It was the best thing I could have done. The Bauer 1X's offset and anatomical ankle design has made a huge difference in the way the skates fit my feet and because of that, I am able to get these skate to do much more for me. I would honestly use your "90 day satisfaction guarantee" and go back to the drawing board.
Just a thought.

I had the opportunity to test one of these and personally think its trash. Personally, I will stick with max height blades which I know work, dont open up when shooting, and the puck doesn't skip over... Most of the NHL seem to think this same way as well.

Any Mako II profile recommendations?
I know the skate has a bit more pitch/range of motion than my reeboks did. No complaints with stock steel so I know any of the ProSharp profiles are going to improve everything, I thought if any aren't particularly good with that skate, I'd steer clear.
Thanks.
It really depends on what you are looking to enhance or change. What works and doesn't for your specific skating style. There is no "best for everyone" profile.

I get asked this at least once every few days. Here is a chart that should help guide players.

The Bauer’s I’ve seen most people skate in seem to not wrap the ankle and have some space between above ankle and boot ... if the boot isn’t form fit well there can be some play and the leg/ankle slops around hitting the boot upper edge. Not sure if that’s the case but if the boot is form fit well, doesn’t seem the boot upper edge should be a problem.
Ive added my own comfort edge to skates that players have needed it. Not very many have needed such.

Maybe it’s just him. He also prides himself on his speed so he didn’t want anything that felt slower (to him). Maybe it’s just a time/getting used to them thing?
It is amazing. But everyone is different and some are more patient than others.

Not sure those are legit.

The 7092 is the best bang for the buck.
The Warrior lacks adjustment but has great flexibility and protection. I also like the shell design that Warrior uses.
I see more of the older crowd using the Super Tacks and a lot of the younger players using the Warrior girdle.

No, the shop is just ignorant. It's full of boxes and old gear covered in dust.

Very comfortable, feel very solid, but heavy and clunky and not as agile/fast as the Mako’s. I guess if you are more looking for durability and comfort, the Trues are solid skates but on high level teams you cant afford to get slower. One slow game can change your spot in the lineup, your stats, your season and your next season. Depends on the level and type of player you are.
He’s back to using the Mako’s until we can’t find them anymore.
If he wears them enough and does some dryland he will adjust. I agree they are heavier than Mako II and others but it is, in fact, a pro spec skate. Once you add extra protection and such everything weighs about the same. I really do hope Bauer incorporates a lot fo the Mako into the next Vapor skate.

I live in the middle of nowhere, so my LHS has nothing. I was at the closest big LHS this weekend and they didn't have the CCM. The warrior felt comfortable and light.
The CCM one is also excellent. Tons of adjustment!

The home model, 1500 passes, the pro model is about 2000 passes. This is based on the historical data I have collected from our own sharpeners.
