Sniper9 I understand you are not going to answer me, but I am posting this "answer" so others can understand it I expect no reply and no need to back-lash please.

I have to say this is great service from True, but, wondering why you would need more filler when the skates were made to fit as we are led to believe? Also your Superfeet were an excellent purchase before, once I get my skate a new pair will go in. In fact they are suggested to be changed every year and you do get a four month return guarantee no questions asked if they don't suit, so lots of time to try them.

Holder Placement - In my research shows that normally a line is drawn from the center point in the heel pocket to the center point between the big toe and the second toe. This is usually where the skater's center of gravity should be and where the blade and holders is best placed for these people. This is then where the holder is placed and riveted for most 'normal skaters".  Someone please correct me if I am wrong and I am sure you will.

Unfortunately, it does always come off the assembly line that way and if they do come of perfectly, but suited for most. Unfortunately they are correct that presents to be incorrect for the many pronators and supinators that make up more skaters then people think. They are then over or under corrected! We can't count on just taking the skate out of the box without inspecting it in more more closely than just this one problem of holders. You could count 7 or 8 issues that should be looked at easily.

Here is where the Superfeet come and very well, but only for pronators unless they are made for over supinators as well. They have some arch support and heel-posting or heel correction that is in the medial side and on the bottom of the Superfeet. You will see that one underside side is higher than the other. This is posting and it will to try and force the heel to stand straighter thus reducing pronation (collapsing). For the mild over pronators it may do them well but, If the person that has real problems than that, they may need more than just Superfeet to correct the problems. Hopefully, if you have your True skates made and express your pronation problem to them or your local LHS it should look after itself.

Thanks Snipe9 for letting me answer, all you said is that you would not listen to me!

    Cheers

I am so confused, are SMU and Sniper9 not talking or blocking each other?

I just ordered a pro stock stick from HockeyMonkey. When I received it, there were little shards of clear/milky plastic on the inside. I removed the end cap and they all dumped out. When I bang the stick on the ground, more seem to come loose. Is this some type of glue on the interior of the stick breaking apart, or is the stick faulty? I'm not sure if I should send it back or if it's a non-issue. Thoughts?

Can you take a pic of them?

Im definitely going to go with smalls, mediums would be far to big in the waist. Do you think i should go with the normal qrl or go with the qrl3? I dont know if i need the extra weight and extra protection that the pro level pants provide. although i do like the look of the fabric on the qrl over the qrl3 and they're only $20 more... hmmm... Decisions...decisions...

For $20 I would go with the higher spec pant. Besides the protection and such they will last you MUCH longer.

All skates high end or not have issues. In my mind if it's a repairable issue and there is no charge??? As for the wear from the shin pad that's on the consumer I see it in all skates that come in. How many top players flop? Ovid doesn't count as he has size 11 tongue in his 8+ custom skates.

I still see quite a few pros going tongue out.

The issue is that the bursting point used on riveters are designed for the steel to curl, which would dig into a leather or TPR innersole.

Now that we’ve moved on from that, perhaps that needs to be redesigned to be flat. I’ve had success using the flat point after I burst them.

Another issue is that a lot of shops are using the wrong size steel rivet. It’s bound to get loose when they’re too big to begin with.

I usually clamp with flats after to give a nice smooth finish. As mentioned, I've never had any issues but I am seeing more issues as of late with one-piece composite boots becoming more prevalent and more players swapping their holders. These shops doing such work are either lazy or dont know how to properly execute.

Hey thanks I appreciate it. Do you find them to be bulky or heavy?

They aren't the slimmest or most tapered pants on the market but they do fit nicely. As for weight, they are about average. Have you looked at STX? They started to sell direct to consumers and their RX pants are extremely nice.

I’m guessing you’ve used the 1st version. How would you compare the two? I tried the 2’s today and it felt like my foot was locked in more and a bit more comfortable.

I liked the first ones but love the second ones. The added cushion is a welcomed edition. I also feel like they made them slightly thicker too but a little more flexible in the arch area.

Does anyone have these? How do you like them? I have a pair and I’m wondering if I should re-bake my skates. I was using the 1st version before. The 2’s seems to be a bit thicker and I’m thinking my ankle/foot is sitting higher than before.

I have them and love them. I have tried every other footbed on the market and this is the one one that works for me. The 2nd generations are a little bit taller so I would recommend baking your skates again. I had to because it put my ankle slightly outside of the ankle pocket.

    I'm 5'10 165 lbs 32 " waist.

I got the warrior qredge pants in medium but I think I could have fit the small, as the medium I have it cinched pretty much all the way. It fits but if I lose any more weight it'll be interesting lol.

Length is fine though but mine are adjustable in length. I had a small in the old Bauer one95 prior but wasn't sure how the warriors fit.  I ordered mine online and used the warrior size chart as I couldn't try it on.

I am about the same, 5'10" and 185 with a 32" waist and the QRE pants in a medium fit well length wise but were too loose in the waist so I went with a small which fits much better. In the QRE girdle, I wear a medium which I think is interesting since they are of similar design. In most other brands, such as Eastin, I am a medium.

  10. I have seen quite a few people complain about rivets coming loose on fully composite skates as the teeth of the rivet cannot get a solid lock on the composite. Has anyone ever considered applying a very thin piece of tpu affixed to the composite via epoxy, liquid nail or some other method to allow the rivets to get more bite? I have not had any issues myself on work that I have personally done but I have had customers bring in their skates for sharpening and when I point out their rivets are coming loose and they tell me they keep getting them fixed and this seems to just happen naturally.

I'm not seeing holder issues on Smu's skates either, but it's obvious from the pictures of your feet on the insoles and the sizing difference between your old skates and the Trues that they're at least a full size too long. That's definitely a big issue that shouldn't be solved by taping some foam in the end. The skates should be remade at the proper length. If you have holder mounting requests then do that at the same time, but any holder issues seem minor compared to the obviously way too long skates.

This is the one downside about custom skates. Some players like less room in the toe area and others like more room. Without having the ability to at least try on a generic skate for size you are entirely at the mercy of those that are manufacturing your skates.

My shop sells a lot of True skates and are very involved in the process of getting the skates made to fit the way the player likes the first time, but even we can't be 100% perfect.. There are just too many variables to account for.

Heck, I've even had people buy Bauer and CCM customs and they said the skate was too long or too short for their liking. One of the guys has been dealing with CCM for weeks now with no resolution in sight.

I am sure the software company that True and CCM license their software from will develop some type or enhancement that can eliminate as many variables as possible, perhaps asking the player a series of fit questions to better understand what fit type they prefer.

Personally, I like my toe to brush the toe cap when standing but not touching the toe cap when I am in the skating position.

Hey I recently bought a ccm trigger and it is my first low kick stick. Whenever I shoot I don’t get as hard of a shot as I did with my old super tacks. I was wondering how I could maximize the low kick shot... like what types of releases create power with low kick sticks.

Low kick sticks such as the Trigger aren't designed for super powerful shots, they are designed to get the shot off quickly as possible allowing a player to shoot while in stride.

    Saves me an email...

Seriously, though- it drove me nuts how Bauer seemingly wanted people tied to their crappy steel as a price of having the easily removable steel, which was one reason why I never even considered Bauer holders when ordering my True/VH skates (mine were transitional when True had just bought VH); of course now you are stuck with the True/Step holder when ordering said skates.

I always liked that I could get Step steel for CCM holders from the onset.

I've been using the new XS holders on one of my pairs of skates and love them. I plan to change all of my skates to the new XS holder once its released and Flare offers steel for it.

Anyone have more input on the Alpha Pro?

It's time for a new helmet.  I wear a CCM Fitlite, which fits me great and I'm very happy with.  I like the weight and size.  But the liner is falling out.  I've glued it back in but it's coming loose again, so it's time.  Seeing as this is the second of this line that this happened to, with like 3 Reebok 8Ks before that, I'm thinking I should switch from that line if I don't want this to keep happening.  These helmets look pretty interesting.  I like the one piece concept, and BOA systems are fantastic so I'm sure it will give a good fit.  I'd also consider the Alpha One, but since fit is the most important thing, I think the smaller shell size will be better for my head shape.  The removable liner is a bonus.

So how are these things?  Does the BOA give them a good fit for just about anyone?  The Fitlite/8K line fits me well, as opposed to the Re-Akt line which is too wide on the sides and deep.  Is the One much better or different than the Pro?  I'm also considering something in the Fitlite line, but the 3DS doesn't fit my head right, I'm concerned about the weight and fit of the FL500, which really leaves the FL90.

My LHS doesn't carry any of these (except the 3DS) so I have to rely on reviews and input from others to try and make a decision.  Thanks.

I had both the Alpha One and the Pro and have been MUCH happier with the Pro. It fits better and is lower profile. I previously used the E700 and CCM Fitlite 2016 and the CCM Fitlite 90. Overall, its an excellent helmet.

In part relation to lasers post, does True keep records of all previously made skates for a particular customer?  I'm on my first pair, and they are perfect, but say I wanted to get another pair over time, and I am pretty confident my feet haven't changed, could I just call up True and ask them to send me a new pair built to identical specs of the previous pair?  Or would I have to go through the LHS, get a full re-scan, etc...?

You can order them through a local fit center and have them reference a previous scan. However, our store always scans the customer's feet again anyway to make sure there are no significant differences.

We know that CCM will be most likely to allow Step to have compatible steel (unlike Bauer in the US) for the holder come out sooner than later. I should ask my contact at Step...

Step, Massive, Byonic, Tydan and Flare have all confirmed they will offer steel for the new runners. They just haven't said when. I assume it will be shortly after the initial release of the holders so June or later of 2019.

Matters for a few reasons.  First and foremost is the establishment of credibility in this community. When one speaks to their own expertise and qualifications some support of that is a reasonable request.  You have, after all, been pretty outspoken.  Second, is the fact that you stated that you were servicing certain teams when typically they are serviced directly through True.  This bears some scrutiny and a follow up as to why the teams would use you and not the manufacturer.  In the end, the community will decide whether it believes you or not and sharing more information about your store and your expertise can only help in that regard,

If at this point I dont have credibility in this community or on Reddit, then there is nothing more I can do to change that. I try to provide insight and input when possible and everything I say or post is my own opinion. There are plenty of people on MS that I am friends with and know personally, there are others that I may not be close friends with, but I do skate with them, other individuals I have provided services to, sold equipment to, etc. I dont feel the need to justify who I am or what I know. I'm not trying to be rude, I just dont see why it matters.

A lot of things..... Some stuff under NDA, but we do composite fabrication and engineering. Research of composite, coating, and casting systems and manufacturing as well. Also, as more of a hobby, we dabble in metallurgy too. Myself, personally, I deal with engineering. Not sure why any of this matters though.
