No offense, but Kronwall is quite old and is more known for his physical presence than his skating skills.

Agreed. Last I heard they are at the top of the line.

1/2" is pretty deep honestly....... -

@Marsblade I asked a few of the players who tried the holders and switched back to their stock ones about changing the dynamics of the holders and each player turned down the offer. They said even if we could get the feeling dialed in they consider the weight of the holder as too big of a hinderance. I can pass them your information if you would like and they can contact you directly if they prefer.

ProSharp Profile Template List
VegasHockey replied to VegasHockey's topic in Technical Info and General Questions
Some templates have a built-in pitch. If you want to have a neutral pitch you would do the following: Mark the blades pivot point on center (like normal). Mark an additional pivot point 20mm back from center (closer to heel). Line up pivot point on the sled with the black dot. Place blade in the holder with the 20mm back from center lined up with sleds pivot point. Do not clamp yet. Press left directional arrow till the sleds pivot point lines up with the center pivot point and clamp in place there. Make your wheel adjustments like normal. Profile till complete. -
VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne
VegasHockey replied to dsjunior1388's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
From what I have seen the VH skates were more pliable than the TRUE skates and as such many people feel they fit better but did not last as long. -
Yep. I always had mixed feelings about them.

@STEP_Official With other companies like RamonEdge and Flare making wider steel, has STEP considered getting into that market as well? I know this is not anything new, CCM released steel that was wider than 3mm about a decade ago and it didn't really "take off" but it seems with all of the advancements in skates that steel has stayed relatively ordinary.

Figured I would share this for people to understand the options available to them.

VH Footwear/TRUE by Scott Van Horne

I also see a lot of issues with customers who get their VH/TRUE skates and then crank on the laces, and/or lace from the outside in, and/or use wax laces. I feel like non-waxed laces and lacing from the inside out allows the laces to slip a little and properly distribute the tightness across the entire facing of the skate. Also, as mentioned, you should pull them enough to remove the slack but it's not really necessary to crank down on the laces. -
Good question. Not sure. I am taking this all with a grain of salt as it's a version 1.0 product. As I install more I'll report back, we have had a steady stream of players bring them in for mounting and as shipments go out I expect even more.

had pain in my arch, right behind the ball of my foot. I cut that section out of the red insole and the pain went away. I think there was too much lift in the arch in my case. I also noticed that Baier SpeedPlates worked well for me too. -

I wonder if its a specific hollow or type of ring that causes the steel to burr more than others. -

This seems reasonable. -
General feedback is that players felt much slower though more stable. Even after adjusting the blade profiling, pitch and ROH the players all felt too far back on their heels or that they were digging in too deep. What I noticed is the higher the level of player the more they disliked the Marsblade. The other feedback was that it felt like there was a delay in the holders and they were not as responsive. Maybe with a revised version if they cast them out of some material other than carbon composite they will lower the weight which might help resolve these complaints.

The customer said it was a factory defect. Not sure as we didn't fit him and he got the skates in Vancouver. I swapped the holders for him though and sent TRUE an email with the customer's information. First time I have ever seen a VH/TRUE holder with a defect. -
Out of the 10 holders I have installed 9 of the players have gone back to their previous holder. Not a lot of positive feedback so far.... What other feedback are others seeing?

I used a gummi stone. Cheaper and likely works the same, or even better. Its also cheaper. -

We tried that and its not the case. The Marsblade holders dont have the same aggressive height and pitch when compared to VH/TRUE holder, for example. They are very neutral. I also think that since the front is "locked" while the rear of the holder flexes the current profile players are using will likely feel strange. We are seeing players use an aggressive toe with a very long heel. 8-10 in the front and 13-26 in the rear. It all depends on the specific person though and their skating profile. I'll report back as more players provide me with feedback. I am concerned there are no replacement blades available yet as profiling, especially if you go from one extreme to the next, takes off a decent amount of steel every time.
