  1. Yes. Very moldable and flexible. I actually like it way more than the standard felt
  2. Wasn't the injected stability lacing system first in Vapor and then rolled out to Supreme? What about that silly Vapor 1x 2d gen tongue?
  3. I hope not. That's the first thing I remove off those skates. Lol
  4. Not negative at all on Bauer and the 2X Pro is substantially better than the other iterations that precede it. There is a lot to like but I do feel there were some things they could/should have improved upon and just decided to cut corners a bit. Seems to me that the 2S has become the forward thinking technology focused skate and the Vapor line is just small incremental updates. It used to be the opposite.
  5. The APX was ugly. Owning shops I see a ton of skates. Overall Bauer doesn't hold up as well as TRUE and CCM. The exception would be the first generation Super Tacks and the FT1. The AS1 has been pretty good for wear and tear and the FT2 as well. As for what I was specifically calling out in the photos was the unnecessary need to add a faux leather piece to the heel and the embellishments by the one piece eyelet system. Also, I spend so much time fixing those one piece eyelets I will never be convinced they are better than standard eyelets. Just my opinion though. Not right or wrong. Just what I've seen.
  6. Had my first bit of actual damage to the skates since I got them. Not sure if the SHIFT holder material is softer than other holders or if the guy just had some deadly swords on his feet. https://m.imgur.com/gallery/N8kO5f7
  7. The length of steel doesn't change the contact area between the steel and the ice.
  8. I had a chance to try my new TRUE skates with the updated SHIFT holder in multiple games and a few drop-in sessions. I can say there is a dramatic difference between the newest generation and the previous generation in terms of weight reduction, not just from the new holder and steel, but overall. I think the new carbon layering process has also made the overall fit and finish better as well. One thing I noticed immediately was the new STEP steel for the SHIFT holder does not feel anything like the previous VH/TRUE holder and STEP combo. In fact, it almost feels like the steel has a dual radius profile, maybe a 9.5/10.5 profile or similar. It's the first time I have been able to just take the skates out of the box, bake them, sharpen them, and play a game with them without feeling like I was wildly out of control. I am honestly not even sure a profile is needed with the newer steel where I felt the older VH/TRUE holder and STEP combo a profile was absolutely required. Overall I am very impressed with the updated skates.
  9. If you don't mind spending a few bucks you can get it powder coated
  10. I think this is quite common. What is strange to me is the players who wants 3/8 on their TRUE skates. I don't understand how they can do anything on the ice as I would feel like my feet are in quicksand.
  11. You can always paint the inside of your cage white too.
  12. Skating 2x a week you should only need to sharpen every 6-8 weeks with STEP, unless you get some serious trauma to the blade, like stepping on concrete.
  13. Yeah, waited for the general release date and then sold them.
  14. Yes, usually players go with a more shallow hollow. I went from 3/4" to 1" 1/2" -> 5/8", 5/8" -> 3/4" , 3/4" -> 1"
  15. I felt the same way. I actually got a free pair of the 2X Pro skates and had them for less than a week before I sold them. I am now only have a pair of pro stock FT2 and the new TRUE skates. Maybe if I went full custom with the 2X Pro they would feel better... I am sure once they pro stock models start popping up online I will buy a pair. I sometimes just can't help myself. lol
  16. Same here, but compared to the felt tongue or the T-Guard there is less protection IMO.
  17. Protection level would be low and its very flexible. If you are someone concerned about foot protection I would say to go with the black or white felt tongue or the tongue option with a metatarsal guard. I personally like how much forward flexion it offers.
  18. I think Bauer still uses too many materials in the new 2X series of skates that are not durable.
  19. Is thin, made with a high density foam and the back of it is fabric and not felt. https://photos.app.goo.gl/Twr34vzNJBnkirUh7
  20. Can you share a pic? If the tear is where I think it is you have a few options.
  21. Not the new standard thin tongue. The optional one does.
  22. Tydan mimics the standard profile of steel.
