  1. I would like to know who here owns or works at a Pro Shop that uses Sparx? We are looking at adding a few machines to our lineup when the season is busy or during tournaments and they keep pushing us toward the PS units but the volume is so low I think the ES unit makes more sense. We are looking at maybe 60 sharpens a month on two machines, so 30 per machine. I don't see why we would need or want a PS unit...? We currently have 3 ProSharp machines, and an older triple head BladeMaster. The main issue with the BladeMaster is the younger kids aren't reliable enough to sharpen by hand so I am trying to find a better alternative.
  2. You can use some extra strength goof off on a rag. That should take it off without damaging the plastic toe cap. As with everything, test a small area first.
  3. I would stick with the same size as you currently wear. I have the QR Edge pants and the Warrior Covert QRE Pro girdle and use the same size on both. Same with the TRUE girdle well.
  4. Depending on your current pant style (tapered, anatomical, traditional) it could either be the same size or you might want to go a size up.
  5. Anyone using an SSM sharpening or profiling machine? We are looking at picking up Table Top Skate Sharpener SSM TT-3 and am trying to get some feedback before making the investment. http://www.ssmofnorthamerica.com/shop/
  6. The TRUE girdle has velco adjustments on the legs which the Warrior girdle doesn't. I would say this is more like a Warrior girdle V2.0 if anything. Also, yes, it has a pocket for a cup/jock/jill. It weighs slightly more than the Warrior girdle but has significantly more protection. It is lighter than the Super Tacks girdle.
  7. What did you want to know about it?
  8. Massive Blade TIN for Tuuk LS Edge.

  10. But the IMS 9.0 I wear a small size, in a standard Re-Akt 75/95/150/200 I wear a medium.
  11. What do you want to know about it? Our store has them. They are very nice!
  12. I agree, the XS is currently my favorite holder but if these are as rigid and durable as promised I might be swayed to using them on skates other than my TRUE. I do wonder with how short the steel is, if it will break. I had this happen today...
  13. Here ya go. New holder, steel, tongue, and 6K carbon weave.
  14. Yeah, not a fan of the coloring. Yeah, not a fan of the coloring.
  15. Good point, not sure about the durability and such. You are likely correct about the inability to service them. Also, I doubt they will make aftermarket steel an option anytime soon, if ever, so those players who prefer to use Flare or something other than STEP, are left behind. I wish everyone switched to a symmetrical design. It just seems silly to have left and right holders.
  16. Does anyone have one of these or have seen one? I am interested in how they fit compared to a standard Re-Akt helmet. I assume a small likely fits more like a medium? Thanks! Example:
  17. These guys sell overseas: https://www.nordichockey.com/ On a new runner with DLC, I would imagine at least 10 full passes to get a nice clean edge.
  18. STEP DLC (Black) is usually very consistent, as are most other brands of DLC steel such as Tydan and Massive. Bauer LS5 is much more consistent than the previous LS4/3/2 but not nearly as consistent as most other major steel manufacturers. Sparx seems to sharpen DLC steel fine, though you may need a few more passes the first time sharpening as compared to standard stainless or polished steel to cut through the DLC coating. I would usually recommend getting any DLC steel first sharpened at a pro shop so you don't introduce unnecessary wear on your Sparx griding ring.
  19. Those Option B skate straps remind me of the ones they used to use on rollerblades. They might work, but man, I don't think I could deal with people chirping me every time I stepped on the ice. Regardless of the skate and its fit if you put enough force on a specific area for an extended period of time repeatedly throughout the course of a few hours, an entire day, or multiple days, you will usually get some bruising due to the repeated pressure exerted on a specific area of your foot or ankle. If you normally don't have issues such as discomfort, bruising, or blisters, I would not worry.
