  1. I almost feel like the video on the page was a parody. Something Charlie from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia would record. 😉
  2. I still don't understand what it is though....
  3. What is Reddog Hockey Boost/Hockey Stability System?
  4. I would argue that even with 3D scanning (which in itself is still not all that advanced at the retail level, have to keep the cost down or the product becomes too pricey) and taking into account all of our "advanced technologies" we have to date there is still a slight margin for fitment refinements. Everyone needs to understand a scan is only as good as the person doing it. If that person doesn't follow all of the proper procedures and the scan is compromised then everything else will be as well. For example, if the foot is positioned in the wrong pose when scanning, or you may have foot swelling due to inflammation, or other reasons for a variance in the scan, the scan is thereby going to be slightly off. If the scan is off everything else after that is basically compromised. If the proper procedures are followed usually minor alternations and heating of the skates in the store will allow for the necessary changes to bring the product back within spec. I would venture in the next couple of years we will see specifically made devices that are not using low-level retail hardware + iPad to perform scans. We are very much in what I would consider V1 of this technology at a retail level. Yes, I say retail level often in my reply because everyone needs to understand what a company like SpaceX, Google, Apple, and others may use will be drastically different than what a sporting good manufacturer is going to offer and support without having to substantially penalize the customers pocket. I am sure this will first happen at the pro level, which is where TRUE, CCM, and Bauer started before it will trickle its way down to the general population. Lastly, I am not 100% sure I can consider volume ever to be a fitment issue and rather a personal preference. For example, some people myself included) like to get into the smallest and lowest profile skate possible while others ( a few recent customers) may want or need (medically) wiggle room for their toes. Finding that "sweet spot" where you can provide a product for 99% of the general population while keeping costs reasonable is no easy task.
  5. Upon release most dealers, myself included, won't even have them in stock. Which kinda sucks... I know we are going to be a lot of players asking to have these mounted. Also, I have been wondering how open-minded they are going to be about third-party companies making steel that fits the holder. I really would love to see some type of partnership with Flare. That would be a deadly combination.
  6. I'm glad you posted this, it was eating away at me wanting to say something. The last thing I wanted though was wrath from some of the TRUE staff 😉
  7. It looked nice but was heavy and not as easy to use or functional. Hence why pro teams (at all levels) never really embraced it. That being said I loved how rigid and stiff it is when compared to a flimsy Tuuk Edge holder.
  8. You can always give them a call too if you aren't getting timely email replies.
  9. There are so many cool things about the new holders..... It's honestly hard for me to contain myself.
  10. Sher-Wood. Otherwise you are better off going with last years (or the year prior) top of the line sticks when they are heavily discounted. Also, Pro Stock options are great too!
  11. Very interesting article: https://www.donskovsc.com/easyblog/entry/the-eyelet-controversy-a-biomechanical-perspective?fbclid=IwAR3yIGT-d1u-8KRY8FLKE1coBXUtcPwCDuQSWhtbv86ynpYCxw-nWtlx4MY Snip: "Recently, there has been some fruitful dialogue by several close collogues regarding how best to lace up a pair of hockey skates for increased performance on the ice. The idea of leaving the first eyelet untied in hopes of producing greater speeds was reinforced in a December article titled “The NHL’s best young skaters all have something in common-how they tie their skates” in The Athletic. The purpose of this blog is to briefly outline the biomechanical considerations involved in this decision. Prior to moving forward, we must first define a hockey stride. "
  12. Which store? What do you mean they cannot get them remade? I've never heard of this situation before in my life.
  13. TRUE will remake the skates for you. Talk to the store you purchased them from and explain your concerns. They should be able to help get things situated. In my experience, TRUE is the best to work with in regards to custom skates. CCM is also nice to work with as well. I cannot comment on Bauer as we do not do custom skates with them and Bauer no longer allows custom skate orders without a 3D scan.
  14. 12' is good for big open ice and for those players with powerful legs who like to glide/coast. I think the main thing I have noticed with a 12' is it takes a lot more energy and work to get those first 1-4 strides underneath you. After that it feels decently nice, but the lack of mobility and agility will make it hard to use the profile effectively on anything smaller than olympic ice.
  15. Yeah, this is how I feel on any single radius profile longer than an 11'
  16. What prices have you seen used units selling for that are in good condition? I found one for sale for 550 and was going to pick it up just to mess with but the warranty is expired on it. The unit works fine and looks like new but I was not sure how well they hold their value.
  17. Even CCM has become a little more relaxed.
  18. I order from Amazon and its only a few bucks.
  19. Retailers can sell as soon as they get stock. However, they cannot advertise or sell online until the actual release date.
  20. Can you share a pic of this, please? The customs I have seen usually look very close to retail.
  21. Not very thermoformable at all unfortunately.
  22. I have them and can say nothing but VERY positive things about them. I'm extremely picky when it comes to shoulder pads and these are the only ones I have owned that I have zero regrets with.
