I love Tacks. I grew up on them and will always have a soft spot for them. My brothers each bought 3 pairs of 1152's when they last went. Mine are now RBK 9K's...but I would go back to Tacks in a second if I could find a pair my size...

Has he played 10 games? After 10 games his salary hits the cap...

Product: RBK 9K Pumps Reviewer specs: Intro 23 female, 5'7 ish (On my liscence I'm 5'9, though people tell me I'm shorter), 150lbs. On the ice 3-4 times a week during the winter, 2 times a week in the summer. Tier 2 women's and men's C. Narrow heel, wideish forefoot. I've had Nike skates (when they first came out) as well as Mission Betty flyweighys. I broke the Nike skates in about 3 weeks, broke the front of the toe and broke the steel. The Mission's didn't last much better seeing as I broke the stabalizer bar in within a month of playing, durability is obviously a big thing for me. I also used the Vector 6.0's. Fit I have always worn a size 7 in all of the other skates, except for the Missions which were an 8. I wear a 6 in the RBKs. When I first put them on I knew I would have to get them baked, but that's not a big deal. They hugged my foot without any pressure points. The pump allows you to tighten the skate around your ankle/heel in just a few seconds. I have a very narrow heel and a wider toe box. The CCMs have always fit me the best, but my ankle would still slide around causing blisters and making it harder to get a good knee bend and cross-overs. The 9Ks totally fixed the problem. I tied them really tight around my toebox my first practice and I though my foot was going to fall off. But when I re-laced they were wonderful. The inside is anti-bacterial and it doesn't absorb any water. This keeps the skates light and keeps them from getting sloppy. I enjoy the thicker tendon guard. It allows me to transition easier without worrying about bending them, which I am prone to do. Wow, it's nice to be able to control the amount of support you want or need. I know a girl that doesn't ever use the pump where I pump them about 5-6 times to get it the way I want. Blade/Holder This has been the biggest problem I have had in skates. I broke the holders of my Mission Betty Flyweights within 2 months. My Vector holders have held up for 2 years and these are the same ones. I really like how CCM/RBK revamped the holders. I have heard that the blades are weaker because of the steel being perforated, but I haven't had any problems. Protection I haven't had any problems at all. I have blocked slapshots from a few different guys and haven't come out worse for wear. They are a bit ripped up around the tendon guard because I tuck my hockey socks under the tendon guards... WeightThey're light, but not as light as the Easton 1500's. They're not flimsy at all but they don't add to extra fatigue. Durability I've had them for a year now and there are some scratches and cosmetic issues (the tendon guards are chewed up from skate blades and the holders are chopped up and the silver pain on the RBK logo is peeling off) but other than that I haven't had an issue. They haven't started breaking down yet...which is a great sign. Conclusion I love them. With my superfeet insoles, I can skate for hours, and will. Our women's team, by the end of the season due to injuries and pregnancy only had 6 skaters. It became a looooong season. Anyway, they fit great and have lasted me well. Update: I've had this skates for just about a year now, they look like they've been used for over a year...there are cuts and scratches all over them, but nothing that wrecks the integrity of the skate. I got heel lifts put in the skates...about 1/2 a centimeter worth. Makes is SO much better. 06 nov 07

Yep, Jr sherwood woodie. Most of the girls on my team use woodies, sherwood seems to be the most popular.

No...Some of there older designs where off the hook !!... Now with Bauer...please.. Bauer is terrible.. RIT dye is your best bet. You can spraypaint them as well, but it WILL chip. Whats the feedback on the RIT dye?? I was thinking Leather Dye... i found on the internet somewhere. Also how the hell are some of these kids dying there holders?? What do they use? and can I use it on my black toe cap? say turning it white????? I've used the RIT dye to dye lacrosse heads. Never had a problem. And you have to start with white plastic.

Honestly, the real reason was when I was younger I ended up breaking my foot pretty badly. When I got the cast off there was a pressure point, right along where that lace sat, so I undid it and relaced them like that. I've kept them like that ever since. Though I know other people lace their skates different. Kieran Block of the MH Tigers does his with less lacings.

My random gear My skates.

Sure is. Played a lot during the summer at it. My girl's team home rink is Mount Plesant, the guy's is Cardel place.

Me on my women's team. Me and my defense partner. I believe we were discussing our game plan, which was to block as many shots as possible.

Mizuno's are the best. Tonnes better than any of the other ones that I have used before.

I was thinking the same thing...

Reviewer specs: 5'7, 145lbs, LW, pant size M Intro/Intangibles I got these in Jan. I am on the ice ususally 4 times a week, more if we have a tourney. Protection This pant is a tank. The fact that the protection is seperate in different places makes it that much better. The pieces are all really thick and the spine protector is really thick. Fit/Weight For me, the fit is okay. I have to really reaf on the belt and the laces to keep them on. I also have to pull them up a lot, but this is probably because I'm a girl and I have a really short waist and long legs. It doesn't have velcro in the legs, but the flex zones are great. Craftsmanship/Durability I haven't had any problems. The extra wear zones are great. I spend a lot of time getting roughed up (or doing the roughing up, whichever way you want to look at it) and the pants have withheld the tests. I have also washed them in a washing machine a few times and no problems so far. The elastic in the legs have stood up real well and so has the belt and the laces considering how hard I reaf on them. Overall 8/10. My biggest problem is the fact that they're really big around the waist, but again it could be because Im a girl. Also the fact that the spine protector sticks out and you have to have the back of your jersey tucked in. So much for looking cool.

Itech SPW55 women's shoulder pads
Ti-girl replied to JR Boucicaut's topic in Shoulder/Elbow/Shin Pads
Background- 5'7, 145lbs, Winger Protection/Fit- Finally, shoulder pads for women! After putting up for years with men's pads that just don't fit right, Itech got their act together and made womens pads. Instead of the foam chest protector, they have a three piece system with adjustable breast plates. The bicep plates are also adjustable. After using regular pads, these things are AMAZING. They don't ride up and you don't get the "boob bump" (girls you KNOW what I mean) like you get with the regular pads. They're made out of thicker materials than most men's pads, making them a bit heavier, but it's worth it! I haven't gotten a spear in the boob that has left a mark since getting these babies. They also have a GREAT spine protector, and I find that these actually hug your body instead of lying there and getting boob squishage. I hate boob squishage. Durabillity- I've had these for a while now and they're no worse for wear. No cracks in the plates, nothing ripped. Intangibles - If these were pink I would NOT have bought them. I'm glad they're the colour they are. And they don't have "WOMENS PADS" all over them. Pshaw. Conclusion- Women, buy these! Men, buy these for your wife/girlfriend! IT IS WORTH THE MONEY! I love them so much. I could sleep with them...if I did that sort of thing. Overall Rating-10/10 -
Reviewer Stats: 5'7, 140 lbs Usage Before Review: 6 months. (1 powerskating a week, 2 practices a week, 1 game a week) Skates: CCM Vector 6.0 Size 7 D Fit I overpronate (feet roll in) and after playing years of baseball catcher my knees really aren't what they should be. I have fallen arches, probably from the years of me running around in cleats (NO arch support), snowboard boots (again NO arch support), sandals and barefoot. They really hold my arches up. Takes a bit of getting used to, but they work Comfort Well I was to the point that anything would make my feet feel better. Because I spend so many hours on my feet my arches would just BURN after playing. I tried other insoles and they didnt really work. They were soft and cushy, but they didn't hold my arches up. These aren't really soft, but they do hold my arches up. They aren't ultra hard, but they aren't like pillows. I like them though. Performance My feet could feel the difference! I can skate a lot longer and I don't have calf cramps during the game. I felt like I could grab the ice better and use my edges more. I have a very narrow heel (the main reason why I use CCMs since they make the most narrow heel out of all of the manufactuers) and these really keep my heel in place. My foot tends to slide around in the skate but these do hold it in place better. Conclusion I really like them, the only problem I have found is that I need to take them out because of the thick foam they get really icky at the bottom. Overall Rating 8.97/10

I'm moving to Calgary next week for a job. I'm in Medicine Hat right now. GO TIGERS!

Just turned 22.

Here's a cool one of our backs waiting for the ice to be cleared. I'm in the middle. :D I should also point out that it's about -25 below so we're wearing about three or four layers.
-
Nope, from the left: there's the one in the blue toque, that's Kat, then the girl in the jeans, that's Anne, then me, then the back of Nathan's head.
-
I don't have any pictures of me actually playing, but this is me teaching my friends to play. I'm the one on the right hand side with the toque. We're in Banff on vaction.

Just some of my shiat...that reminds me...I should get that out of my trunk...

CCM Vector 6.0 Skates (Sr) (size 7D) Reveiwer background Age 22, LW 5'7, 145lb female player, playing Tier 2/1 hockey as well as playing men's rec hockey. Power skate twice a week. I'm on the ice usually 4-5 times per week. Fit I got the skates three days before I played a tournament. I got them baked and walked around my house in them for about a day. They, by far, are the most comfortable skates I've worn. They really hold my ankles in without the pressure points. I have a very narrow heel and a very narrow achille's tendon area and the skate holds it in very well without being too tight. 10/10 Blade/Holder My last few skates have died because of busted steel, busted toe caps or busted holders. I thought the look of the holder was a little "off" but whatever, I tried them out. They've lasted so far a year with just some scratches and one big gouge taken out, but nothing is broken and it doesn't affect my skating at all. 9/10 Weight/Protection Can't say that I've had a problem with the weight of the skate. I noticed a difference when I first started skating on them, but now I don't notice anything, which is probably a good thing. The protection is great. I have some scratches on the front of the toe and a few black puck marks on the skate, but nothing severe. I blocked 5 shots one shift last weekend and my foot hurts, but not too bad, just aches a bit. 9/10 Durability Like I said, I go through skates like water. In three seasons before I bought these I had gone through 3 different pairs of skates. I've had these skates now for just over a season and they're still in one piece. There are a few scratches, scrapes and what not but in all reality the skate are still in one piece, including the blade holders and the toe caps that seem to go first. 11/10 Intangibles Thumbs up for the skate lock! I love it! For our warm ups I skate around without the top three eyelets tied up. They're PERFECT! 10/10 Conclusion The skates are awesome. I paid the same amount that I paid for the Betty Flyweights and they've lasted for a lot longer than what the Missions did. They're comfortable and I can wear them for 4 or 5 days a week. 9.997/10
