  1. Update time. I've been using the skates for a few weeks now and have had a lot of ice time. The skates are incredibly comfortable and feel great for the entire time I am on the ice. I have had no blisters, pain, or discomfort of any kind. This is a new concept for me. I have two very different size feet along with unusually high arches coupled with a wide foot and extremely deep instep. Needless to say a custom skate was really my only option for a well fitting skate. These skates have answered my prayers. I had some Graf custom insoles fitted on Friday at West Side Skate and Stick in NYC. They made the skates even more comfortable. The only negative I could find so far with these skates is that I had to have the T-blades re-riveted due to the wrong rivets being used initially. I was told by the gentleman that did my custom footbeds that the rivets used were much too long. No problem really and was only a $15.00 service. I highly recommend the custom footbeds by the way. Really amazing. I guess the only remaining issue with these skates is the durability, but I guess time will tell on that front. If anyone has any questions please let me know.

Good to hear about the custom footbeds with thermoplastic-base boots, I had been wondering about that, but I couldn't remember anyone mentioning that combination at all.

  2. I know it's mid-season, but I haven't noticed many pros in this skate. Majority still seem to be APX.

To dig up an older question in this topic, why aren't more pros using them, I'm seeing a lot more of these on NHL / KHL players; nothing that rivals Bauer or even CCM-Reebok numbers, but I'd guess more are wearing them than used to wear Easton skates.

  3. I Love mine i'm sure you'll love yours. I have played about 10 games and about 5 scrimmages, I don't even feel them on my feet. I have had so many problems with all of the top skate manufactures in terms of fit but these are perfect in every way. I can't wait to see what Scott will continue to do with these skates.

The more I hear the more excited I am about this skate. But, then, don't you think an avatar change is in order @GiancarloSFL?

  4. Custom Graf G75. Size 7.5W. Carbon fiber outsole instead of Texalite, Bumped up the holders to 272. Toe cap padding. Got rid of the stripe and side branding, all Graf Green stitching. Graf "G" logo on tendon guard. Love these skates.

That's a really nice looking skate, especially with the CF outsole--how did you get that, is it an option with Graf customs?

  5. I liked Paajarvi's development last year. It looked like he finally realized he's faster than most defensemen and can simply take the puck wide with his big reach. I do see him as a second line forward, if not fully this year, then probably next year. His development looks like Bill Guerin or Todd Bertuzzi. Sometimes power forwards take a while to get it at the new level. Plus, I think he was all speed when he was younger, and that's what got him drafted so high. Now he's realizing he's both big and fast. There just wasn't room for him in Edmonton to get up to speed. Not like Edmonton was a really stable place for anyone to develop anyway.

  6. The toe cap was made for a growth that i have on my big toe it was bothering me with all of my other skates but Scott really took care of me with his design. Not the prettiest but boy is it ever comfortable.

Man, that sounds uncomfortable, bet it feels nice now. It may not be pretty but it's easy to forget right away. I had the same reaction when I got my Vapor 8's punched way out to accomodate my heel shape and the nasty Haglund's I had developed from not knowing how to fit skates when I started playing.

The shots you took of the skate are amazing. That frontal shot really shows how much the boot wraps, and I can see much better now how it locks you in with very little lacing pressure. I'm really curious about the inside of the boot heel/tendon guard area. Teasingly, it's just out of frame on shots 5 and 6; could you take a shot of that area?

Also, how high does the boot come on your ankle compared to your previous skates?

  7. What I mean of rolling edges is the edge actually is gone, yes there are blow out on turns and stops and every time I look at the metal there is an edge completely gone in a inch to 3 inch section at some point. I have been sharpening and skated on multiple different set ups and have not had this issue with any other set up. I can usually make a sharpen last a month or even two, but this is almost every other skate, Just sharpened them earlier this week and skated tonight and felt solid, so I will give them another try and see how it goes next skate.

I see what you mean. That's frustrating. Hopefully it gets better from here. If I were in that situation, I'd be thinking the same thing, about making a swap.

  8. I do remember Chadd saying that before, but I don't think that is the issue as I did rocker them along with multiple sharpens. It shouldn't take this much to get to the sweet spot.

Yeah, it sounds like you've given it a fair shot. I'm curious though, when you're rolling edges, do you mean you're hitting the holder and losing your edge when turning, or does it feel like the edge just doesn't hold for the same hollow and radius?

  9. I don't know about others, but I have not rolled this many edges ever in any other skate. I really am skeptical about the metal and holder, but the boot is the most comfortable I have ever had. Giving the runners a few more hours before I try to change it out.

The steel is supposed to take more to get its first edge (I think Chadd posted this), but once it's there, it's supposed to hold that edge really well. Maybe it needs a more thorough sharpening?

  10. Yeah, I'm still interested in these too. I'd gladly take a Lagerfeld over what other companies have been putting out.

Seriously though, I'm excited about the recent speed skate technology and knowhow bleeding over into hockey, and I'll definitely get a pair of VH boots if I can afford to later this year. I'm excited to see how these play for people.
