Pittsburgh Losing Last Indie Equipment Store
jmiro replied to BenBreeg's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
This was are go to. 2.5 hour drive a couple times a year. Great service. If you knew what you needed or wanted some work done you could ship to Cannonsburg and pick up in Delmont. Delmont shop is small however, has better selection than a lot of the rink pro shops I have been in. -
I have the last version. Coming from bauer's 13 inch the 14 fit me better.

Well, at this point a year later, we are at another organization. He tried out for the previous organization. Due to multiple issues and a desire to play other sports we left. He was going to play in house at that rink. The inhouse program closed. At that time he was asked to play for a tournament team at another rink a little further away. He joined their inhouse program then they let him join late season on their travel team. He actually played his old team and was accosted by players calling him names and hitting him after the handshake line. So long and short he is happy where he is. The program he came from and rink all seem to be in jeopardy. It is a shame. But he enjoys his new team so much and the game.

Sorry for a dumb epoxy question over wear patches on 1xrs
jmiro replied to Bender94's topic in Roller Hockey Equipment
I get it. My current are x 800. I did this were the wear patches were by the toe. I have done this on other parts of different skates. This is also a common practice to plug holes on on the insoles of skates that have had multiple holders put on. Would I smear the whole skate with it?No. -

I have used jb weld. Thin coat then let it dry. Rinse and repeat until you get the desired thickness. Other wise it will work but look like a sloppy mess. -
Same here. My V08 died and I am currently rocking a bauer 5100.

Word of warning about the tour shirt. It is really short and sizing off. Two of us in beer league tried it, but went with the mission one.

Didn't CCM or Reebok have a stick with holes in the lower portion of the shaft? Also, I beleive there is a stick from some company that the blade looks like a siv.

I have a sherwood t90 in intermediate and another in senior. Their is definitely a difference in the dimensions. Also have a 6092 tacks and super tacks 2.0 in intermediate. I have the ribcor pro and tacks as1 in senior. Once again definitely different in dimensions. On a side note the intermediate tacks are 65 flex and the tacks senior is 75(cut to maybe an 80) . Hard passes just blow through the 65.

The new STX Surgeon RX3 gear is out.

Good sale of stallion gloves and sticks currently -
Looks like a pack of partial insoles? With varying thickness I would guess. Same function as shims? With a less permanent application making them easier for the end user to adjust? Would that present a problem with fitment of the boot and even heel lock? More questions than answers.

I have used super reds last a while no complaints. Son had abec7 from inline he liked them. Wasnt impressed with labeda swiss. These didn't last long. Currently running yellow jacket stingers. So far so good. They are a definite up grade from the hilo abec7 the skates came with.

I would imagine. But my cheap but is looking for the old ones to go on clearance. Or at least not drop the full price only for them to be on sale the next month.

So we are 100% sure next year? I am in need right now.

We do get fill out an eval at the end of the year. The chair person or what ever his position is is stepping down. Next year's U10 will be on smaller team I beleive. I think the fear is this will continue.

I play a couple times or more a week. I air my stuff out after each session. The only peices of my equipment that ever really smelled were my skates. Didn't start wearing a base layer or socks till about a year ago. Plus i lost my faculty of smell about 8 or 9 years ago. -

I got the stallions hpr 1.1. I got mediums. They fit good out the box. They are more mobile out the box then my old high end vapors that at broke in. Biceps could be a little larger. At the level i play anymore i am more concerned with a random fall than a slash. That being said the length is perfect. Volume could be a little more. I have a "game" tonight. I'll update this. That being said I contacted St x regarding my fit concern. They said they had no problem creating a return slip for me if they didn't fit. UPDATE: Super pleased with the preformance. I gotta say as advertised didn't slip. Super comfortable and flexible. As far as elbow pads go this is as close as i have flet to wearing nothing. No pinching or binding. I honestly dig the the sleeve. The bicep strap is a moot point for me with the sleeve. The sleeve keeps it plenty tight enough up top. I will probably just tack it to the sleeve as it holds some of the pad in place so I don't see cutting it off as an option. -
When Did You Get Bored With Acquiring New Hockey Gear?
jmiro replied to beerleaguecaptain's topic in Ice Hockey Equipment
I got my kid pretty Set. Purchased extra stuff for when he grows out of it. He is very particular on fit, so now that i got that down were good. As for me. Now that I modded my shins to fit and sending my gloves for repairs. Still can't find a pair of elbows I like. I just ordered a pair of Stx. I think the only thing ill be in the market for is skates. Not over exited about the ones I have now. So when they are shot maybe 2 pair. One to convert to inlines and one for ice. But yea kinda over it as I don't see a ton of options or innovations I dig compared to what I have. -
thanks again for the feedback and support. Heck his coach even got me playing drop in again... My boy now is even trying goal. I realize now more than ever i am just along for the ride and time is already going to quick.

I am about to pull the trigger on a pair of hbr elbow pads. My issue is sizing. I have a medium pair of older vapors that are mediums and a pair of large nexus. The nexus are to big the vapors are fine in length but could use a little more volume. Any input. I am about 5'7 185ish -
So as the season closes I felt I needed to this thread. My son thoroughly enjoyed this season. The team he was on rolled lines no matter what the situtation. All the kids got equal playing time and played all postions. The coach didn't care about the score or rankings. They are finishing up the season with a 9-2 record currently. Win or lose the kids, including mines, attitude a have been great. The parents are great too. Even when they were getting smoked 11-0 in placement games with 4 shots on goal. At times I questioned my family's decision. The other team splits ice with my boys team for practice. I still see the coach making them do push ups or skate for messing up drills. I haven't heard him scream or curse but didn't pay much attention. My son and I went to watch his best friend play on the the other team. He got a total of 4 minutes of playing the whole game. There were several other kids that also saw minimal playing time. A couple kids were double shifted. The shifts for the kids that weren't seeing minimal playing time seemed excessively long compared to 30 seconds or less for those kids riding the pine. One parent i know made the comment his kid was the back up goaltender. Back up at U10. My boys best friends father confirmed that his child has seen approx. 60min of playing in 13 games and has since quit the team. I also witnessed the coach getting in a ridiculous screaming match with the red at the end of the game. I truly hope some of the parents on that team honestly fill out the scale at the end of the season. Once again this is a U10 travel that everyone trying out makes one of the two teams and are placed according to their "skills". No one gets cut as my boys ex coach reminded his whole team when rumors of my boy being cut circulated. The club has an elite team for this.

Cage, shinpads, and a cup when I am on the ice with the kids.
