I have 100/50 (my favorite for wide variety of conditions), 100/75 (smaller/lighter kids like my 9 year old like this), 90/75 (only used a few times for softer ice), and 1/2 (which I use for friends who have been skating on it a while or for the emergency sharpening on a kid. It won't be too different from they had before). Understand that I do this for free and don't encourage anyone to bring me skates! I have the bigger unit which I decided upon because I had the cash and figured better to go big. It was the best money I have ever spent on hockey gear. Love it.

Agreed. But not so sure I like Alomar getting in. Can't get over the whole spitting thing.

We should have a book study on How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie. Granted, it has become sort of a creepy business cult thing, but the book itself is great read. It will help solve your "There's a customer in front of me who is creeping me out because he isn't talking" thing.

I use the cheap EDGE Pro on (with the drilled holes), and it is really all I need with my X-02. It is very reliable and I do sometimes recheck with the Bat Gauge. The Bat Gauge is fussy. EDGE Pro is great and cheap IMHO.

I was told the distance between the holder and the bottom plate should 1/2". Here is the message from Blackstone: "No worries – you can reset the holder. Measure the space in between the bottom plate (plate with the felt pad on it) and the top plate (black piece). Make sure that the measurement in between the plates are 1/2 inch. This will get you very close to where you need to be. After that, you can try sharpening and then make the necessary adjustments to get level again." They have been great all along, but I am considering the new holder myself.

Looking for a new edge checker. Anyone try these: http://www.goosesproteamsports.com/EdgeChecker.html http://edgeprohockey.com/ As opposed to the $149 BLADEMASTER. I have the bat gauge, but I don't think I am getting good readings out of it. I would like to have something else to compare with and money is not the big issue for now, just not sure if I should pony up for the Blademaster at three times the cost.

I have the XO2, and I am wondering the same. I just sort of rest the hose over the smaller exhaust on the machine. Would a simple pvc pipe reducer work?

Scurvy, Try the 90/75. It seems much more like 1/2 to me. You'll like the glide if you are first comfortable on the edges.
-
Chadd, Do you know if there are plans to do so? Thanks. Bob

Nevermind, missed JR's link. Posted the same one.

I admit, I was a little afraid the whole night! Not used to being so fast! LOL.

I got to try my FBV blades last night. They were awesome, I got to pucks that I never usually get to. Which leads me to ask, what do I do on a breakaway? I really like the glide, but I need the shallower cut. I had way too much edge, felt like I was going to bust an ankle. At one point someone chirped at me for letting up going into the corner, my reply was "I was afraid I was going straight through the boards!" Thanks Bob (and Steve), sharpening came out great!

I just installed the new blades I got from Bob, and I will report back after a skate tonight. I understand the skepticism and what my local sharpener meant when he said, "There's nothing there!" However, I think they're going to be awesome. On looks alone, it is weird, I will admit. I trust the people on here who say they like it.

Oh so its her fault I couldnt get a work visa.......LOL PM me if I can help!

I am allowed into Canada! My wife works for US Immigration, so I feel safer about it than the rest of the border crossers do.

Yep, bought replacement runners and had Bob do them. I will do the sharpen by mail til I get my machine in the spring. Still deciding if I should get the big or little one.

You're killing me OTG!

Thanks Steve! Just now I called those guys and they said that they had it in 3/8 and 1/2. What does that equate to? I was expecting them to know a little more. Bad news. When I got there, they told me they had packed the FBV spinner up. They were too hesitant to keep the FBV spinner and were sending it back.

Steve, Anyone in NY with this yet? Thanks, Bob

Vimeo site says it was removed, and I am not seeing a link. Is it on the portables site? Thanks for the help JR. Not sure where I should look. Bob

Hi Steve: I noticed the video is no longer on there. Is it posted anywhere to view? Thanks, Bob

Seriously? Yes. I mean take for example what is on hockey giant. They have models IX, XII, XVI, XXII, XXV, XXXX. Now, I do know Roman numerals as well. But if I am in a shop and they have an older random pair of Vapors that are XX, it isn't as easy to figure out how good they might be as when you simply have 30, 50, 70, 90 like the other Bauer line. Are the XX the old top of the line or are they the old XXII's? All right, maybe I am dense?
-
I don't know about you guys, but the numbering system on the Vapors does not fully make sense to me, especially when shops have old models lying around. I thought it was simply the higher the number the better, but now I'm not so sure! So much for replacing my 735s with Vapors! Is there a chart somewhere low to high with the replacements/new equivalent models included.
