Which color wheel are you using? I was pretty convinced the normal wheels would not touch them?

Now with the BlackEdge and nitinol blades available, I am wondering if Step Steel is my best choice to replace the regular Step Steel I have in my holders now? (LS2). I sharpen at home with the XO2, but would prefer to have a long lasting edge. If you all were to get new steel, how would you rank the current offerings? For me, being able to sharpen at home would impact my decision, so i guess the Nitinol blades are out. Thanks!

That's is great, keep it up! Good luck, I think you are making a great decision.

Thanks JR.

Guys, have had my X02 for a long while now, but thinking of upgrading to the new holder. Is it a huge difference in consistency?
-
Great news, very glad for you guys.

Anthony, that is awesome. It is amazing what will power can do. I am about 10 pounds down and about thirty more to go for my own target weight. I am loosely following the no flour, no sugar routine. I still eat pretty well, but eliminating those empty calories is huge. I log my food every day, and it really makes you realize what you're doing to yourself sometimes! Good luck, and keep it up. I feel good about my small success, so you must feel awesome.

True, I agree. I just meant to imply that it gave no relief or satisfaction legally either. And really, how could it? Your post is spot on.

That is a tough event for a lot of people. I wish you luck with having to deal with it, but I think if you focus on the beauty of her life, maybe that will help ease the situation? Stay positive! My grandmother lived to be almost ninety, and then she got in an car accident while driving with my mom and was killed when someone ran a red light and tee-boned them. I nearly lost my mother as well. I was so pissed off for so long, and it ate me up inside thinking that someone screwed up and we all had to pay the price for it. It was a kid who was supposedly hung over and racing to a crappy job that he was late for. He barely got anything more than a slap on the wrist. But now, about eight years later, I have to think that after all the things my grandmother faced in her life (surving stomach cancer and living with a colostomy bag being the biggest one), the irony of how she died makes me smile. She was gone in a instant and probably didn't know what hit her. She was a wonderful character to say the least, and I know she would have wanted me to remember her with a smile. Here's hoping your pain passes. It's a phase, and it will go soon enough. Don't be afraid to get help if you think you need it. I did, and I am glad I did.

That is great news! Best to you both. Hope everything goes well with the procedure.

Early in the game last night, our goalie gets run into, and has his mask knocked off. In the melee, the idiot spits at the offending player who ran him. The goalie gets a 5 and a match penalty for spitting. We have to play the whole game without him, and lose by three goals, 9-6. Furthermore, he is suspended for 30 days for the violation. He got what he deserved, but we sure don't deserve him! We should have won that game. We had nine players total!
-
When the goalie was out? In our men's league, you cannot take slap shots if one team is without a net minder. Neither team.

Congrats!

Well, my squirt minor team (that I coach) finished first in their division and lost the championship in overtime to the first place team in the larger division. It was a slight disappointment and end to a great year BUT, we held tryouts yesterday and several excellent players from good programs came over and signed on for next year. We are going to have a great start in our tournament bound year. I think our hard work paid off and got noticed.
-
Squirt minor, 9-10. I mean, come on! And really the pass in question was the most minor little thing. It was no way near being a scoring chance at all. The head coach asked me what had transpired when he heard that I had been upset by something. He said, "What missed pass? Hell, I thought (your kid) was the best kid on the ice for most of the game." I said, "I know I am his dad, but I thought he was good, too." I am with you, Axxion99, but this is a town rink and it would be instant jail! LOL! (I would never hit someone over that, but it would have felt good!)

Well, the kids made it all the way to the championship only to lose 3-2 with 24 seconds left in a 10 minute overtime. Walk in to the locker room late to hear some douche bag telling my son that if he would have passed the puck to his son (he was two feet ahead sometime during the second period at center ice), we would have won. Throughout the game, I kept encouraging his son on the bench who had missed the net 5 or 6 times including a sure one timer for a goal late in the third.
-
Really? I always call my wife's brother's wife my sister in law. (Sorry if that hurts to try to figure out). You are probably right though, Chad.
-
I kinda saw that coming when you referred to him as "wife's brother in law" and not "my brother in law." That sucks!
-
Good advice above. My son is 70 lbs. and 100/75 is even a bit "edgy" for him. I would try 100/50 and then try 90/75. You should see better glides to stops and plenty of edge.
-
I have 100/50 (my favorite for wide variety of conditions), 100/75 (smaller/lighter kids like my 9 year old like this), 90/75 (only used a few times for softer ice), and 1/2 (which I use for friends who have been skating on it a while or for the emergency sharpening on a kid. It won't be too different from they had before). Understand that I do this for free and don't encourage anyone to bring me skates! I have the bigger unit which I decided upon because I had the cash and figured better to go big. It was the best money I have ever spent on hockey gear. Love it.

Agreed. But not so sure I like Alomar getting in. Can't get over the whole spitting thing.

I use the cheap EDGE Pro on (with the drilled holes), and it is really all I need with my X-02. It is very reliable and I do sometimes recheck with the Bat Gauge. The Bat Gauge is fussy. EDGE Pro is great and cheap IMHO.

I was told the distance between the holder and the bottom plate should 1/2". Here is the message from Blackstone: "No worries – you can reset the holder. Measure the space in between the bottom plate (plate with the felt pad on it) and the top plate (black piece). Make sure that the measurement in between the plates are 1/2 inch. This will get you very close to where you need to be. After that, you can try sharpening and then make the necessary adjustments to get level again." They have been great all along, but I am considering the new holder myself.

Looking for a new edge checker. Anyone try these: http://www.goosesproteamsports.com/EdgeChecker.html http://edgeprohockey.com/ As opposed to the $149 BLADEMASTER. I have the bat gauge, but I don't think I am getting good readings out of it. I would like to have something else to compare with and money is not the big issue for now, just not sure if I should pony up for the Blademaster at three times the cost.
