  1. Yes. No need to crossgrind when changing hollows.
  2. That is the fix that we do in my store with all of the non-Bauer helmets. We shave the clips down on the cross grinder. Sneaky move by Bauer to make it difficult - I get the concept (no pun intended) behind the reworking of the mount.
  3. Nice pics, Gordon! Was thinking about you the other day - hope all's well!
  4. Exactly. I'll never forget the one time that a holder was seriously mismounted. The story I got from the rep was something about how all of their mounts are laser guided and there was no way that could've happened. They rejected the claim without even seeing it. Had to eat the skate and put the customer into something else.
  5. Graf had always been offering their classic skates as an orderable option. Just because they weren't in the lineup didn't mean they weren't available.

  7. But even then - it was never a dominating brand. I wore 705s back in 1997 when most were in Supremes and Tacks.
  8. You make this seem as if retail customers in North America still want Graf. They don't. For quite some time now.
  9. It's true. Vaughn bought the machinery and moved it to their factory. This happened almost a month ago.
  10. Flip boot upside down, then push on opposite side of arch. It pushes the arch up, making it easier to remove.
  11. Received the go-ahead from CCM to post on the stick. It still continues the Ribcor trademark of having visual technology, but what has been changed from the Reckoner is the layup; it features a new flex profile that has been tweaked for quicker release, The blade structure is also new; weight reduction and improved puck feel.
  12. Mine did not require new holes. Used exactly the size it required. Remember that SB 4.0 has same rivet pattern as Tuuk. As long as you match the holder size you should be good. Had to expand on one of the holes.
  13. No, put the insole you intend to use in the skate once you're about to put it on.
  14. Sorry, a bit late with all that has been happening as of late - Got the skates a couple of days before I had to go to Columbus, OH for a business trip, and so the first time I skated on them was at SummerJam. These skates have felt nothing like any other CCM skate I've ever worn. The left skate was absolutely perfect. The right skate, however, started to develop a bit of arch pain in them. But I did not lace them up myself (thanks, @mojo122) so the lacing wasn't the same as the left. I had difficulty getting dressed in the locker room and sadly enough, had to require help lacing and then unlacing my skates when I was done. The injury that I sustained during Winterfest simply hasn't gotten better. I think I skated for an hour on them.
  15. I'm still interested in seeing the machine and/or a sharpened set. Looks like customers seem to be happy with the final product.
  16. You need to go one up from Jetspeed. I wore 10.5 in Jetspeed as well as MX3, and 11 in these. I tried the 10.5 ST and couldn't get the skate on.
  17. I referenced how the carbon fiber that they use in the skate changes post-bake. It pushed out at the balls of my feet. JS also spoke on this: Posted April 18 This is merely a PSA so that people don't think it's cracked.
  18. Updated the post to show how the skate pushed out after bake. This is what JS is referencing to in his post on the catalogue thread.
  19. I've mentioned before that I haven't had a lot of success with CCM skates over the long term - usually it was strictly a fit issue. On some, the volume wasn't right. On others, it was too much volume. Or it was the arch. Or it was too wide. You get the point. Then Jetspeed came along. While those seemed to fit me pretty decently, there was something odd about it. Well-made skate, but in terms of bleeding-edge technology that we were seeing from competitors and upstarts, it simply wasn't there. And there's nothing wrong with that. The skate is what it is, and the price point reflects that.. The first iteration of the Tacks reboot was interesting, however, once again, it really did not have "it." And this version just might. With Super Tacks, you're seeing a departure from skates that come boxy out of the box; gone are those cavernous heels and ankles without definition of any sort. It is similarly shaped to Jetspeed in the rear, but wider in the front. The toe box is nuts. It feels like nothing before - completely seamless. The way it is achieved is the outer toe box goes over the bootsock, held together by a rivet on both sides; as if it's snapped in. To get a better understanding of it, I went ahead and unmounted the holder to see what was underneath. The boot is beveled to accommodate the TPU outer toebox covering. The bottom of it is held in by the rivets when the holder is on. The tongue is different from the initial pictures of the skates in the catalogue; that one called for a molded tongue. This is a good compromise between that and a standard felt tongue. Also noticed a running change with the graphic; my pair does not have the grey heel accents that the stock photos had. They baked well; it is interesting to see what happens to the carbon fiber post-bake. You can see where it was pushed out - it looks like ridges. In my case, they were at the balls of my feet, on both sides; the inner was more pronounced than the outer. The boots wrapped very well after the bake. One of my biggest fears was that they were going to be extremely stiff, considering the materials and also the tendon guard. Won't be able to touch on that until I skate them, but I received them a couple of days ago. As far as sizing is concerned; I went with 11D. My Jetspeeds were 10.5 D. I'm a 10.5 D in Bauer Supreme and 10.5 EE in Vapor. Thanks goes out to the team at CCM Hockey for providing me with this pair. Any questions in regards to my experiences can be posted here; general thoughts on Super Tacks can be posted in the Catalogue thread.
