  1. Are those not football pads? Not when they say Louisville on them. :D And football pads have much larger shoulder caps.
  2. Just picked these up off of ebay.
  3. Looks like he colored it with a black marker to me. You can see the shine because of the camera.
  4. I'm almost positive he is. He runs the Vancouver Selects club, and that's their rink. Brother skated for him as a '94, and I remember hearing about him owning the place.
  5. Brad Bowen is the owner of that place isn't he?
  6. A bit? That things monstrous.
  7. That's one helluva curve. Damn. Stick looks pretty slick, not gonna lie.
  8. i mean...i need to flex a stick b4 i buy it...but i know how to do it...just put some flex on it....like mimicing shooting...i've seen some kids look like they're TRYING to break it. I don't even work in an LHS and i always subconsciously put the sticks in order....and i feel bad for those of you who have to deal with annoying kids...at my LHS yesterday...these 2 brothers pick up 2 brand new XXXX sticks, a stickhandling ball...and start whacking their sticks around "Playing" hockey....the guys are so nice in my LHS, and they never say nething. Pet peeve of mine...the playing in store. That's why I lock all of the balls away, keep SmartHockey on or behind the counter, and scream at kids. Nothing worse than having to discount product because your brat couldn't act like a mature person in my store. How ironic - I'm making signs on PS for the store - telling kids not to flex sticks. Kind've on the SmartHockey note: We have a CCM rug with a sign that says employee's only on it infront of the opening to our counter. We also have a little step blocking off the counter, that also has a sign on it. We have two buckets with balls. One that has a few balls for the customers to play with, seeing as how that seems to be their uttermost desire. But every once in a while, some kid, or even an adult, while climb the stair with the huge ass sign that says "Employee's only!", and grab a brand spankin fucking new SmartHockey ball, and wack it around. First off, we have a bucket with used balls, all you have to do ask, and secondly, don't come behind the counter that has two huge signs saying don't do it. I don't care if you're spending 1.5K at my store that day, I will kick you out. Which I've done before. Fortunately, the guy was only spending around $500 that day. This is why some LHS will charge a fitting fee. We've been tempted to do so on occasion, but we have a very large supporting group of regulars, and they bring in their friends. It's rare that we get an asshat like that. We've been fortunate. So far.
  9. It's a gentleman's game.
  10. I haven't been here long enough to know if you have, so for my benefit, I'm going to say no, you haven't. Do tell.
  11. At our shop, we have a "no skates on glass" sign at least in 5 different spots. I'll give them their skates back if they're standing at the counter. If not, I'll put them on the ground beneath the till. As soon as they see that their skates are done, and this happens about 90% of the time, they will pick them up, set them on the glass, and proceed to pay. Now, I've gotten used to it, and typically keep my mouth shut, but if the jackass picks up his skates, holds it up to the light, and does the little fingernail test to prove that he knows something, I'll tell him to take his skates off the glass and point out the 5 signs we have stating just that. And the best one, is some people will actually take their skates, and run them along the glass, as if to find out that they're blades are sharp. I should just start taking rivets out and see if they notice.
  12. hey hey...not all of us are delinquints (you're probab;y right though :( ) Agreed. Im a teen myself. Such a pity. :(
  13. Working at a LHS is awesome. Especially when your boss goes out randomly, and your working during a slow hour, and you can just goof off in the back room. For example, fitting a 6'3" co-worker in an SMI bag. Good times. Sorry to hear about the skates and laces DS50. Any clue how old they were? I'm going to assume late teens. Because that's the right answer.

  15. I went through physical therapy for a leg contusion + hematoma, and part of the rehab was ankle weights. I was curious about their use for normal activities, like running, and obviously skating. I was told that you should never use ankle weights for anything except rehab, or stationary movement. Using them otherwise can put unnecessary strain on ligaments and muscles in your legs, and lead to tears, pulling certain extremities and so on. So I advise against using them except for stationary movement. Having resistance for skating is best used with pulling a tire around, a small parachute for wind resistance (Mike Modano uses this I believe), or if you have one, a bungee cord or a harness to strap to your chest or waist area. My very large $0.02.
  16. If you know the right people you can. ;)
  17. If he's using that weight for resistance, he'd be better off with a parachute.
  18. I am loving those skates. I don't normally like white on any boot, but those are damn sexy. By the way...nice pillow you've got there in the third picture...
  19. Where I worked, we only charged $20. SRS is an awesome fix for sticks. Having done it a fair amount of times for customers, as well as my own sticks, I can say that'd be your best bet.
  20. Alright, here's my stuff. -Bauer 5000 Bucket with Jofa 480 cage. -RBK 3K elbows. -Fury/Mission/Easton gloves. -Koho shoulders. -Tackla 9000 pants. -Easton Synergy 300 shins. -Easton S15 skates. -Four AK27 + Christian blades twigs. Pics: The complete set. My three sets of gloves. My S15's. Mounted the towers myself. :) A better look at my shoulder pads. I love these so much. I've got 4 of the same stick, so one should suffice. Besides, the other three are at the rink. AK27 + Custom Christian blade and pattern. Better view of the pattern. Got Modano's pro pattern cloned for myself. :)
