  1. Lol I had no idea that Wickenheiser was a girl. Just googled her. I do like them though, except that on three occasions tonight I failed to catch an aerial pass because I couldn't open them up quick enough (not broken in) and the puck just bounced off the tips of my fingers.. ouch. MAN.. I wear a chick's glove.. however manly she is.. I'm not gonna let anyone know that.
  2. Off of ebay, I'm sure you guys have seen them on there. Pro stock Team Canada H.Wickenheiser stitched on "cuff". Its 13"-1" so there is not much of a cuff to speak of. Trying them out tonight.
  3. I think that's just an illusion from the switching to and from cable knit. It looks like its a solid roll with a HD plastic insert. But I'm just going off of appearances :)
  4. Sucks. The file I have is like exactly 1" wide so its the perfect fit into a shaft and won't get stuck :)
  5. "Lucked" out on some mystery curves from the monkey. Ordered 1 mystery pro stock composite and a 3 pack of SWD Spezza 950 tapered woodies. Got a call a few days later from a manager (female, sounded cute) saying they only had 1 Spezza remaining. I asked them to give me another mystery curve (2 total) and make sure that they are as similar to the Spezza, and to credit the difference. The following is what I received. Curve #1 I think this is Drury-ish. About a 6 lie, a bit too high for me. Curve #2 I like this one a lot. About a 5-5.5 lie, which is ideal; however, its short-hosel and all my shafts are currently cut for long-hosel. I picked up a dolomite shaft from the B/S/T section and hope it comes soon because I want to give this thing a whirl. For some reason I dislike using end-plugs. Oh, yes I am OCD about my tape jobs.
  6. You didn't try the minwookie pile driver method :(
  7. I cut out the pads, except the thigh, from my ITECH HP 1000 pants to turn it into a shell with extra protection for my girdle. I'd post a picture but I'm sure you get the idea. Made slits to slide out the plastic inserts.
  8. Damn, I hate not having a car. I guess I'm going to have to check it out the next time I borrow my roommate's car. Have you or geoff tried it out yet? I ordered a set of step steel from Bob @ noicing. 8'/12' combo and medium aggressive pitch at 90/75 FBV. I could definitely tell a difference with the glide, but I was skating 1/2" before.. felt like a bit less bite. Anyways, I love it and actually think I'm gonna stick with the 90/75 as I'm quite used to it now. I'm glad I got a local shop now with FBV (sorry Bob). Geoff is a bum.... but he's still gonna burn and dangle me regardless of the sharpening hes on.
  9. Sorry to hear JR. On a brighter note, MD/DC/VA MSHers. FBV has arrived at Ashburn Ice house. They got all 5(?) wheels. I don't know what Tim is charging but I'm sure its not much more than a standard sharpening.
  10. I heard somewhere that its pretty similar in construction to the SL. If that is the case then yes, I have done the SL before. Gotta be real patient with the heating of the tenon because it doesn't come out easy. It is also hollow all the way through, so you can't use rebar to poke it out.
  11. Yeah it worked fine. Sorry for late response I read through all 58 pages of that FBV thread.. whew... I'm sure with certain sticks you can do it without cutting the blade off at all, and certain sticks you can't do it, period. It depends on a few different things... The method used to bind the blade to the shaft. Like if they used epoxy or glue. Foam inserts above the tenon might mess with effectiveness of the force impact. Shape of the tenon, hollow with a solid top or hollow through like eastons. Ideally you give it a shot without doing any cutting. Just a bit of heating (not overheating) and some pile driving, maybe some swinging. If that doesn't work give try cutting through the shaftwalls above the fusepoint and repeating. I can tell you 100% that it is possible with the RBK 7k after cutting above the fusepoint.
  12. Minwookie, do you mean to hold onto the butt end, and swing it like a bat so that the file kinda shoots towards the tenon? Certainly. Yeah. At first I held the shaft vertically and dropped the file like a pile driver. You could take a few easy swings. I'd recommend against taking a hard swing, because if you hit it with enough force, you are gonna have a projectile that could potentially do some damage.
  13. A good way to knock out the existing tenon/blade is after you make your cut at the fuse point. Put in a heavy weight or piece of rebar that fits into the butt end of the stick. I used a steel file that was missing the handle. Heat. Use gravity and centrifugal force to make that weight into a hammer. It knocks the tenon out from the inside out.
  14. He could be french. Danglars. A la Count of Montecristo by Dumas. You english major.
  15. I live in the DC area and was wondering what LHS you went to. thanks. Went to the Gardens Ice house in Laurel. But the LHS i call my home is in Ashburn VA.
