  1. KGB with Kremlin curve.
  2. Yeah, the electrical wiring on the older mk2's through 88 I believe was suspect, specifically with the automatic doors, but I guess all over. I'm no good at wiring so getting a 90-92 was sort of on my list of priorities. I don't remember what exact year the electrical issues were addressed, but I believe it happened the same year they changed the grille but I'm not positive.
  3. People who take their VW's and put them on bagged suspension, get fat rims, a lot of tint and pseudo-performance mods. The name of the game is to see how low you can go, and many people weld skid plates on the bottom so it won't effect any necessary parts. You'll see people who can make their trim hold a dime between it and the ground. Some examples (all better ones too): http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4152/5081902079_0e6f0bbf65_z.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6197/6151238541_3c0eaee126.jpg http://www.loxlee-loves-engines.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/mini-truck-style-vw-jetta-brown-front-shot-519x345.jpg http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg164/scaled.php?server=164&filename=edition382007591af6.jpg&res=medium Somtimes it will come out well, but most of the time it doesn't, and it puts a lot of stress on the cars, especially given their age and how people tend to drive them. There are so many mods that people end up doing stuff with the knowledge that it's destined to break and they'll just fix/replace it when it does. A lot of talented guys out there too, but it's just not my thing and when they are finished with their toys and decide to either part them out or return to stock, it's pretty much not worth buying as a whole.
  4. Did you have an Mk2 as well? The Mk2's have some weird quirks, and obviously if you can find a German one they are much, much better, but they are very sturdy if you keep up with regular maintenance and can stand a little bit of BS (like the door hinges... once any moisture gets inside they're gone). I've had this one since October, only problems since owning have been the distributor cap oxidized on the tips and I ended up replacing it in lieu of finding a wire brush small enough to clean the tips, and right now what seems to be a bad o2 sensor, which I don't think has ever been changed. The nice thing about this car is that mechanically, it's about as basic as they come. minimal sensors, easy access under the hood, and parts are dirt cheap. Plus, it doesn't take too much work to make them look good. The problem with Mk2 VW's is that mostly kids buy them, and they usually either treat them like crap or "dub" them (and it's usually bad). Either way by the time they are finished you have to do so much work to bring it back to life that it's not really worth it. I bought this one because the guy was older, had a clue, and didn't really try to make it more than it was. Only mod he did was replacing the paper air filter setup with a cleanable one, the window tinting and the 5 spoke alloys. He had some type of cheap sound system in there too from what I can tell, and slapped bigger pedal covers on, but that's about it. The only thing that is a real pain with these is the rust factor. I don't take it out at all after it's snowed unless I have to, and when I do I make sure it get's hosed down pretty quickly. Salt eats these things up for breakfast, especially non-German produced ones.
  5. My semi-project car, a '91 tornado red Jetta gl. All the fun will start when the weather gets warm, but basically she'll just get lowered a bit and restored to original condition. Not too much to do, but the guy who owned it previously must've done something to the front left quarter panel and taken it to a shop like maaco, because it's now chipping clear coat, and this generation of Jetta didn't paint their cars with a clear coat. Other than that, the black trim needs some color attention, all of the door hinges other than the drivers need to be replaced, the headliner needs to be replaced and the shifter boot is going to have to come out too as its ripped. Also needs a new head unit and speakers, but I have the head. All in all, I love it, quirky car but it shifts smoothly, has a sharp clutch and plays nice in the turns. Not the fastest in the world (1.8l 8v) but still fun none the less.
  6. That's going to be me come tax return, nice pickups.
  7. Look a bit odd under the jersey, but wow... so much range of motion.
  8. Wow, last picture is perfect. I'm in love with that hook.
  9. Already have top down profile, just a side profile and maybe one other would do. Just want to get a better idea of what it looks like.
  10. Take as many as you can if you don't mind. I'd like to get a really nice look at that curve, I have an old Montreal woodie that has similar curve, but not as aggressive in the toe.
  11. That curve is badass. I'd love to know what I could compare that to as well. I'm a righty and getting his curve prostock probably wouldn't do much good.
  12. I've heard Jag's illegal curve is pretty epic. I was hoping you'd say it was that one, I've never actually seen it before.
  13. What does Jagr's curve look like on that Combat stick?
  14. Just picked these up last night. I always told myself that it's pretty hard to get a skate that's noticeably lighter than my old flexlites, tech just couldn't have advanced that much. Completely wrong and totally impressed with how ridiculously light these are. A little concerned with the flex, seem a bit soft, but at this point I'm better off with soft I guess anyway, just not going to play enough to get too much more. I really tried to like the Reebok 6k's more too, but couldn't, these are unbelievable. Only question now is what do I want to change the laces to color wise... I hate the stock Bauer lace color, always thought it looked off. Either going to go to a full white, yellow or black. Never have done black before and I think it may look cool on these, so that's where I'm leaning now. I do love yellow though...
  15. Not sure if I've posed this before, but: The Black Keys - Ten Cent Pistol
  16. Honestly didn't even think they were actually made for gloves. I assumed it was just to replicate how Rawlings has glove lines endorsed by certain players. I used to have a Mike Schmidt glove.
  17. I'm in love! Did you have them made for you?! I want a pair!
  18. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150507646585&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT Just picked these up off the bay. Can't wait until they get here.
  19. *Ahem* The Walmart business theory/practice.
  20. Same here man. I loved that whole range to be honest. I'm not a huge 4 roll person but these are sort of the exception that proves the rule, no idea why.
  21. Just bought these from a local thrift store: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v718/hawkeyedcx/76ae5c4c.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v718/hawkeyedcx/5c739d66.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v718/hawkeyedcx/0daa610d.jpg 5 bucks, mint condition, palms show next to no wear. They aren't broken in and the inside doesn't even seem to have been sweated in. Amazing that they were in my size too. Was a pretty fortunate find, wish I could find some new skates at that price. ;)
  22. What is the deal with the one95 hybrid stick? I've yet to see that before, I'm assuming it's new... ?
