Easton Pro Stock Synergy

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Please pardon the newbie questions.

I'm looking to buy my first one piece composite stick, and I see 1800faceoff.com has an Easton Pro Stock Synergy stick for $99.99.

Seems like a good deal, but maybe I'm being naive.

First, how is pro stock different from a regular synergy?

Second, the only pattern they have is described as "Ragnarsson 1/2" Heel Open", which sounds okay, but there's no info on the lie. I can't find this pattern described on Easton's site or in the Pattern DB.

Any help appreciated.

Pro stock sticks are made for professionals.  The stick you are looking at is Marcus Ragnarsson's personal curve.

Thx,

that's pretty much as I surmised, but I'm still wondering if there's any way to find out the lie...

I purchased a pro stock syn from 1800. I called and asked them to get the stick and describe the curve in detail (curve, rocker, length of blade etc.). I also asked them to compare the lie to a retail curve (one that I new the lie of). This is of course still pretty imprecise but better than going blind. They were very helpful and patient. Some stores have even been willing to take and email you pics of the curve. Can't hurt to ask.

Edit: I paid $119 for mine at the time and it's been a tank so far. Like it so much I got a 2nd just in case. Haven't used a retail Synergy for a while so I really can't compare durability.

The many Pro stock curves I've seen are VERY open, some are not but the majority I've seen are heel curves with a wedge. Any one know why? seems kinda hard to pull a snapper with a huge open face.

I find it easier, but I've used them for so long I don't really remember trying with any other kind of curve. Nice wedges were made for snappers though.

I use the same motion as a slapshot without the windup. Lethal with a heel wedge.

Hmmm, never could get a good one off with my Lecavalier. Maybe it was just my technique.

I find wedges are best for all my shots and passes. I have been using a heel curve for a bit and no wedge. Yikes its hard to get use to. BTW stay away from the wood Sher Wood SOP blades. They become wet noodles in less than a game.

This one was described to me as about the same as a drury, so your description would seem apporpriate.

Thanks guys, for all your help. I bought the stick. We'll see if I can pull a snap shot with it next week!

snapshots arent that good with heel curves but your wristers will be more accurate....slap shots will be very hard to control as i find with my drury...but trust me you will love the curve....................

Its nearly imposible to take a true wrist shot with a Drury. The snapper with it is deadly, as the curve has the biggest sweet spot known to man.

Coming from wedges I've used snappers more than anything but have been tinkering with Kovalchuks and giong back to wristers is sick. It's like shooting back with those flimsy gym floor hockey sticks.

You're almost better off with the pick and fling style snapper.
