How much gas does the Bauer Vapor line have?

Recommended Posts

Since bauer has been moving more and more away from thier "supreme" line and to the "vapor" line, bauer has all of a sudden become more *cutting edge* and whatever else they want to tell you. Since bauer has been working with the vapor line for quite a while, and has changed to the roman numerals, how high up can they go, how long can they make this last? Product line names or brands won't last forever.

Bauer knows this and at one time they are going to have to change. The question is, will they decide to unviel a new line, will they recede back to the supreme line, or how long should the proceed with the vapor gear?

Just was thinking about it myself, thought it would be interesting to discuss.

You can sort of compare it to CCM which has had both sides of the coin: The Tacks lineup has remained strong for many years but the Externo lineup lasted, what...5 minutes? Of course the jury is still out on the Vector lineup.

As long as the Pope is using roman numerals, Bauer will have them too! I see no end to the Vapor line, especially when all they have to do it change the paint job, renumber it, and put it out as a new model every year. Let's see....

2003 Vap V, X, XV, XX

2004 V, VII, XI, XII, XV, XX, all discontinued or relabeled

2005 VI, VIII, XIV, XIX, XX, XXX

2006 could be..... IV, IX, IIX, IXX, and of course DoS XX (for the beer leaguers)

But what about vapor forty, you can't convince a kid that a two numeral stick is better than a three numeral one (an XXX vs. an XL?)

if they get sick of roman numerals they can always go back and do

6, 8, 14, 19. 20, 30, 40 etc;

lol

and should the fact that it's called Vapor 40 be enough for the "kid" to know it's "Better"? It is a higher number. and what about Vapor VII against Vapor XX, vapor XX is 2 numeral and it's better than VII.

Nike used to model their lines (Ignite, Quest) from highest number to lowest number - being top end. From what I've been told, this confused their aimed demographic which resulted in poor sales and have since opted for the traditional highest number = top end.

The stereotyping in this thread is quite hypocritical.

I think that the Vapor line will go until people don't buy it anymore, and until another company comes up with something groundbreaking (or Bauer for that matter).

I’m sure there will be at least one more line. I mean, really, a model named “XXX

Bauer is just asking for backlash from conservatives.

I’m sure the new Bauer Abstinence line will be a great hit.

But then again, innuendoes = sales. Heck, I have mountain bikes named G-Spot and Peeler, respectively. Kids today aren’t as “pure†as they used to be and are much more superficial than they used to be but that’s a whole other discussion. Multi-national corporations know this because they are responsible for this change and they sure as hell are taking advantage of the fruits of their labour.

Like Jimmy said, all they have to do is continue to make their products aesthetically appealing to each generation and slap on a 3 minute devised slogan or technical mumbo jumbo and voila, a new product and more $$$. That leads to more endorsements and the cycle repeats itself.

Until kids learn not to take things for face value and the professionals continue to endorse the products, the Vapor line will continue to strive and sore. It all about marketing. Nothing more and nothing less.

Even in our admittedly poor public schools in the US, we learn roman numberals in second or third grade.

The XXX line must impress allot of Straight Edge guys out there....I have seen more than a fair share of new Edge tats resembling the logo found on the XXX OPS.

Its simple solution to the original question but.....just start a new line with new names. I love Nike's RH lineup. Slightly corny names, but they stick in your head and are memorable which is the key to great marketting.....get em with the name then the product's features come next.

i dont understand how you can say they havent been working on anything lately?

they just released the new XXX skates, gloves, and sticks ?

unless they totally stopped thinking of new ideas and just gave up after the thirties line.

How many people will know that XL is better than XXX? XL is the Roman Numeral conversion for 40 by the way. The other options are to keep adding another X every few years, go back to Arabic numbers or come up with a new name.

I think it might be a good lead in for them....XXX....XL, I'm sure I'm not the only one who see's the connection. Plus most people just look at the price tag and what the Pros wear. I'm sure they'll be able to make their skate look different. I wouldn't be surprised to see a black skate (like the back of the XXX) fade into either the Silver or red.

I think Hockechamp is right - the Vapor line has gone on far too long. I mean what other lines have lasted as long? You don't see Supremes or Tacks around anymore - oh wait - they've been around a hell of a lot longer than Vapors....
