new skates - laces too long = too big?

Okay, so here is a big of a strange question...

I recently picked up new pair of Bauer Supremes to replace my old ones. My old ones fit like a glove but are very broken in. I've only skated on my new skates once and a kinda loose in the forefoot. My skates are size 9D and both skates are the same size.

One thing I've noticed about my new skates is that the laces are way too long. They measure about 132. After I tie up the new skates (fairly tight), I notice that I have a lot of excess in the laces...probably 28 inches or so (remember that there are two loops - 28 represents the full loop stretched out).

So, does that mean my skates are too big, or is there some trend toward longer laces that I'm not aware of??

If they fit OK then it'd just that the laces are too long. My Mission S 400 laces are way too long as well.

I'll probably replace them with waxed laces soon anyway.

96, 108, and 120 are the standard sizes, so just try some new laces.

I agree, I use GRAF waxed laces in my S300's and they are great. I just put a new pair in this week because the old ones had lost their wax coating over the past 6 months and was reminded how much better the GRAF ones are over others I have tried.

I have seen bauers with laces that were way too long a few times. My XXs had two differnt sizes in them too

My Missions came with 108's I believe. It's too long for my liking so I've switched to using Waxed white 96's.

I recently picked up a new pair of skates, and like you they were Bauer Supremes in 9D. I thought the laces were excessively long also. I'd say your skates are fine and it's the laces that are too long.

Local shop has a boat load of graf laces, I have heard so much crap on this board on how great they were, so I thought I would pick them up, and lemme tell you, they rock. Great laces, have lasted me months. Great feel to them too, can really get the skates tight.

Yeah mine are too...I have to triple knot them just to get a resonable length, so I am most liekly going to get Graf laces for them, I really liked them with my Vector 6.0's

The reason why people like GRAF waxed laces it that they are tough, have molded tips and the wax doesn't rub off the second you lace up your skates like some other cheap brands.
