Best "Bad" Movies?

Recommended Posts

Gleaming the cube

Great movie! :P Christian Slater in all his skateboarding glory! Lots of cameos by some of the legendary pro skateboarders like Tony Hawk, Mike McGill, Christian Hosoi, among others. Actually I loved that movie back when it came out during my junior high days.

I wouldn't have paid 2 Canadian cents to see Napoleon Dynamite at the movie theaters but was pleasantly suprised upon seeing it recently on video. It's so stupid that you can't help but laugh. Lots of good quotes but it's one of those movies where you either love it or hate it. I consider it mainstream now the way everyone is talking about it.

My votes go to "Heaven Help Us" with Andrew McCarthy and Donald Sutherland and some old movie called "My Bodyguard" (someone else HAS to have seen that!)

And although it's not low-budget, "Office Space" was a flop that became a cult classic.

They shot "Office Space" right here in Plano. The building that was Initech has changed though. The metal latticework that was in the fromt is no longer there though. The "Chochkies" is actually a TGIFridays on Central expressway, but it has since been remodeled.

Many great lines from Spinal Tap. I have a new one every time I see it.

The latest for me is "Barber Shop Raga" :P

"Well why noy just make 10 louder than all the rest?"

"These go to eleven."

What about Cloak and Dagger as well?

I think you're all pointing out too many actual good movies... or movies that were meant to be dumb/funny. I think of good-bad movies as more like unintentional comedy. Like Showgirls or Purple Rain. Prayer for the Rollerboys is another fine example someone else brought up.

Good point, but there are also those "guilty pleasure" movies. The ones with a low budget, bad acting, and a poor script but you seem to like it anyway.

Neither type should be confused with the movies that flew under the radar that are actually well done.

Do you guys get any of Peter Jackson's old movies in the US and Canada? If so, check out Bad Taste, Meet the Feebles and Brain Dead - classic movies on minimal budgets. You'll have to get past the New Zealand accents though - this was pre Lord of the Rings, so no big international casts!

I've never seen it, but my friend told me "The Sicilian" is the worse movie he's ever seen. Worse yet, it's two-and-a-half hours long.

What makes it funny is my friend said the movie is so bad, that whenever he meets someone that just rubs him the wrong way, he'll ask him:

"You like movies, Jack? You should rent 'The Sicilian.' Man, what a great movie!"

I am not really sure if this topic is about bad movies or good movies, but anyway a good movie that barely anyone knows about is America History X. Didn't go to theatres but its got edward nortan and some other guys and it was really good. Some parts are pretty disturbing but it is a good movie.

Dead Alive was the America title for Brain Dead - gotta love those lawnmowers!
