RBK 8K helmet

Recommended Posts

Wow, I can't believe how many RBK 8k helmets are out there. Team Canada I can understand, but the Ukrainians also had them, and then I'm watching the Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey league play a game yesterday and now they all have them. That wasn't the case last week.

RBK must be producing these by the boatload and giving them away to any team with any TV exposure. Wow, certainly takes deep pockets to do this.

Think they're worth the hype?

JJ

its rather expensive though

questions, i tried it on at my lhs, but the large is too narrow, but also too big length wise, should i go xl or look for another helmet?

i think a nike quest helmet would be better for your head because it sounds like its pretty wide

They're everywhere but in the sores! I think that's the problem, they gave so many away than there is none left to distribute to the stores. I got only a small portion of what I ordered. I have only 7 left, and no larges. :-(

Yes, they are worth the hype. Everyone who bought one says they love it. I'm sure it won't be perfect for everyone, but still a nice helmet.

The nice thing about having the league exclusive deals is that we really have a great billboard for launching new products such as the 8K helmet. The feedback has been great so far.

Just a quick question for you shop owners and employees: If you are in an area with a CHL, AHL or ECHL team, are you noticing increased demand for THC products worn or used in these leagues?

Not answering your question, but the team I am playing for next year is in a 4 year deal with THC, so I will be decked out in THC stuff come next September. I've heard some good things so far regarding the helmet, as well as the sticks.

Actually there have been a lot of complaints from the local AHL players. Add to that the number of sticks that local kids have purchased from the team and RETAIL demand is not up. Since the kids have quoted me prices well below wholesale, I'm not sure how they can afford to do it.

So the #1 team in Canada is ranked around 3000th in the U.S.? Our programs midget teams go up to canada and get killed every year but do great around here in the states, so that ranking is really suprising...any certain reason its like that?

it could just be that there are about 11 times more people in the states than canada, and there just happens to be more schools that recruite hockey players? i'm taking a wild stab.

also, about the 8k's, i've heard people in the OHL complain about how the 8k doesn't fit their head and whatnot, but are forced to wear it, so i guess not everyone likes it, it's just that they're forced to wear it

Yes, after the AHL All star game, demand was up. The two AHL teams in my area have certainly been good for advertising. However, the demand is not helping me as a retailer at all. 80% of what I ordered from THC is on back order. The advertising is only helping the big internet sites which you obviously stock up fully first. In addition, I'm not too happy about you guys missing the March 1 booking shipping date, and when I finally got some of it first week in April, only getting 1/5th of what I ordered. I'm loosing sales because you didn't fullfill your part of the booking agreement. Demand doesn't help us if we don't have the product. For example here's what I have little or nothing of in stock yet:

8k helmets

any Jr RBK skates

any blades

very little jr protective

any jr goal equipment

any vector gloves

I'm getting tired of telling customers the stuff is coming. They eventually get tired and just go to "Isellhockeyequipment.com" to get it. Yea, you guys get the product sold, but us LHS end up getting the stuff late when no one wants it anymore or got something else.

Do you sense the frustration?

I was being sarcastic ;) . They were like #2 or 3 behind Shattuck for the mid-west of the US, as well as Canada. It's just that Canadian prep hockey is nearly non-existant as far as national ranking goes.

Ha that's funny. Classic problem of marketing getting ahead of the operations. I can see it now,

MARKETING: "We need to show and tell the world about our new spiffy helmets because we can make a lot of money selling them for outrageous prices -- especially if the kids and wannbes see the pros wearing them."

OPERATIONS: "You realize if we give all the helmets away we won't be able to meet our commitments to our retailers."

MARKETING: "Great, then we'll create high demand, but supply will be low so prices will even be higher."

OPERATIONS: "At the pace we can produce them, our delivery commitments are like going to be a year off. By then consumers will be pissed and they'll find something else."

MARKETING: "Then make more faster."

OPERATIONS: "Then quality will be the pits and the marketing people will blame us for the poor long-term sales. Not to mention customers will wright us off and it will take years to come back."

Ha ha ha ha ha. It's the same for all businesses.
