hockey- legace is so underated I still can't beleive he hasn't been given a decent shot at there number one spot. Another player who is burried under his teamates is Brad Richards I know he won the Conn Smythe but I'm tired of hearing about St. Louis and Lecavilier when Richards is really the backbone of the team and MVP of the team

I'd give him the edge over Hasek, but then again I'd give the edge to the mite goalie I saw tonight over Hasek. Main problem I find with Manny along with many other "short, modern-day" goalies which is the lack of topshelf reaction/coverage.

On another note I've always kinda felt that the Sedin twins were a little underrated in the NHL but a bit overrated when playing for Modo.

A lot of the over-rated players mentioned are in the twilight of their careers. They may have had good years in the past, but have slowed down in the last couple (see Selanne for example).

It's the guy that bombs in the middle of his career that has to work hard to get back the form he once had to avoid being called over-rated (and get a lower contract, etc.). The guy who has an above-average season has to work just as hard to maintain that level, or he'll just be considered a flash in the pan, and his pay-day won't come.

Watch how he plays when he isn't in net for the Devils. He's better than average but his numbers are a product of the system his team uses. Let's be honest, you or I could pick a team to represent Canada that would win most tournaments, no matter who we put in net. I'd even go far enough to say that they wouldn't have a significantly worse record with a journeyman goalie in net.

He has. CuJo struggled (because he's crap) and Hasek was injured or retired at that point (I can't remember which).

Legace isn't underrated. He is considered the best backup in hockey. The times that he has been given the starting role he has floundered.

I think Cujo excels as an underdog goalie. When the odds are against the team, he seems to step up. (Atleast Toronto and Edmondon)

I really dont think Tkatchuk is an overated player. I am able two watch him in like every game he plays in. He is by far one of the best Blues and is more than capable of carrying the team if he has two. He did it more than a few times the last season. (whenever that was)

Keith Tkatchuk made 9 million last nhl season. And he only had 71 points. Ranked 19 in the league. What i'm trying to say is If your paying someone 9 mill a year(forward) he should atleast be in the top 15 for scroing. If i was the gm i would sign someone like doan or alfresson, elais for a lot cheaper. anyway its just my opinion

they gave legace a chance, and he blew it last year. when they were playing nashville. cujo played like shit in the first 2. then they put in legace and he didnt do very well either. hes not a number one goalie. he will always be a backup

No expectations. If he plays poor, his teams lose like they were supposed to. If he wins, he's a hero. He was terrible in Toronto. He made his workload much harder than it was. Always out of position, jumping around like an idiot letting in soft goals, but making a nice glove save because he screwed up on his positioning made him look good to people.

Because of the context in which he won it. It was because of all those game winners and stats about how they always win when he scores. He is the backbone of the team but Lecavalier and St Louis are regarded as much bigger stars because of their offensive ability and flashiness. It is his all round ability and the fact that he doesn't excel in one particular aspect of the game which makes him underrated. My point being that there isn't one particular thing you can point out as to why he is a great player, which he has shown to be over the course of his career.
