easy to make food

Recommended Posts

so with it being summer, and being out almost every night, i dont eat a whole lot at home any more. moms always asking "what should i get for you and your brother to eat during the day...." I can never think of good things to have her get when she asks, but then remember later, and eventually forget again. keep in mind that after hockey every day im usually pretty tired / lazy, so easy but good stuff is probably the best. Not to mention being able to stop home quick at night and whip some food up quick, and get back to the plans.

whats some good stuff you guys make? found frozen pop-corn chicken recently, and thats gone over well... any other ideas?

Tuna steaks, but I'm lazy when it comes down to it and could live off PB&Js and cereal.

If you're doing anything sports-wise this summer, I'd always make plain macaroni with tuna and parmesan just to get carbs going when I could. Easy as hell and fills you up like nobody's business.

Hot Dogs in the microwave are quick, 3-4 mins or KD Easy Mac in like 3-4 mins.

Easy mac is the king. Frozen bean and chees burritos also rock.

For me its cereal and toast cause I am by far the laziest person in the world. If it takes more then 2 minutes its too long. I just get my mom to buy vector cereal and thne a bunch of pizza buns. They require no cooking and are good and filling.

Heck why bother making anything.

Get some fruit, bread, maybe some cheese, cold cuts and some sort of beverage.

A loaf of bread, hunk of cheese, some grapes (maybe some slices of pepperoni) and a bottle of wine (or grape juice) and you've got yourself a euro meal.

Another easy snack salad. Get your favorite veggies, dressing chop'em up and chomp, eat'em up.

Those are the healthy (sort of) really quick choices. If I feel like putting gross amounts of tasty fat and salt in me, I just go for whatever I like from the TV dinner/Frozen Food section. You can find just about ANYTHING in frozen form.

Or you cold go military style and get yourself some MRE's :P

It takes about a minute to make a salad and you can eat it while whatever else you are making is cooking.

I forgot to add, if you're willing to take one out of every 3 or 4 days to actually make something you can make what my college roomates used to call "greedy meals"

We'd roast like two chickens, or a roast, huge lasagna, pot of soup/stew, huge shepherd's pie, whatever is a big hearty meal and live off the left overs for the next few days.

Cook on Sunday and do nothing else til Wed or Thurs.

Also, a big pot of homemade tomato sauce (chunky style w/ veggies and meat) is very convenient. Boil some pasta, microwave a bowl of sauce and presto prego, a sub 10 minute meal right there.

What I eat practically at home...

- Potato Salad from Safeway

- Cereal (Frosted Flakes haha)

- Hot Dogs

- Grilled Cheese Sandwiches

- Chicken + Rice

Get your mom to buy you a George Foreman Grill. Throw Chicken onto the Foreman and make some rice either in a pot or in a rice cooker.

Pre made salads are what I have been living on the past 5 days being home alone. Two of the nights I've had people over and girls actually make me something solid to eat, so I'd advise on getting some girl that you "could really see yourself caring for" to come and visit.

i got married and food just magically appears ;)

joking

Seriously though look at some of the sodium levels in that instant stuff its enough to kill you, especially raman noodles. Its not hard to stirfry some chicken and buy some teriaki sauce and make some rice or noodles to go with it. The rice probably takes the longest to cook and that's only a few minutes. Sandwiches of course are super fast and easy. Pasta is quick as well, what it takes about 9 min for barrilla spaghetti and 13min for rigatoni so that's not so bad, put the simpsons on start the water and you're eating before the episode is even over.

I just made some noodles.

When theyre "aldente" put some cheese spice and a lil piece of butter in it.

Thats all you need.

If you want some "meat", put some chickenbreast in it.

If you are old enough, get the propane powered gas bbq and put the temperature on low and slap on some steaks, kebabs, and wings. Just remember to turn the items over so they don't burn especially when you get the fat on fire on the bottom of the grill. Then invite your friends and your future wife over so she can take over for you.

;) ;)
