I was really hoping that my Habs signed Berard, but hey what can you do...

Now, say what you want about JR...(Roenick not Boucicaut), but isnt' that a prick move by Clarke. Roenick calls him and encourages him to sign Hatcher...Clarke listens then trades JR.

I dont' like Bobby Clarke.

I think Desjardans is gone, he's going to make 3.X million and is expendable with their new D men.

Hrm. JR's booked for what, 4.9 million? I thought Desjardans was higher, but I still can see Clarke being much more likely to unload a Dman (or two) after signing two guys who are bonafide number one defenseman on any team in the league in Hatcher and Rathje, and another damn good one in Therian.

Draft picks I'd assume...they are trying to cut payroll.

Hey, does anyone know whether the cap is similar to the NBA's, in that you can't trade players for draft picks? At least, that's how I understand the NBA's cap works -- total salaries have to be within 15% of each other for trade purposes.

Both of those guys as potential number one d-men? Therian "damn good", you are certainly living up to your name. :P

The Flyers needed to trade someone after getting Foppa because I think that brought them over the cap.

Obviously, the qualifying offers that have been made to RFA's are included in the Cap calculations...?

TSN lists Philly at 33.9 Mil...

Matt Dandenault (Defenceman) has just signed with the Montréal Canadiens, a 4 year contract worth 7 million.  The terms of the Kovalev contract were released and he signed a 4 year deal for 18 million. Forsberg is apparently in Montréal with his agent and apparently will have a meeting with Gainey later today.  Montreal is also apparently in the lead to land Satan (from RDS.ca).  I hope they don't become the Canadian version of the New York Rangers.  I think Forsberg is a long shot, they have a better shot in landing Satan.

I think it's done!!!

Guess who's back, back again Kovy's back.

Fedoruk, Hordichuk, O'Neill, White, etc were all traded for draft picks.

I looked through the thread and I couldn't find it but Pronger got signed to the Oilers for 6.25 mil. They traded Brewer and two prospects.

Lacroix is setting up a press conference for tonight or tomorrow. Considering the circumstances what other GM would do this?

Word in Denver it came down to wanting to keep Tanguay and Hejduk. Its VERY painful now but in the long run its a smart move. Tanguay can play center AND there are plenty other free agents to fill in a few wing spots.

WELCOME TO THE NEW NHL ... AND FOR ME IT BLOWS!
