LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted August 25, 2005 My team will be traveling to Detroit for a tournament near the end of September/beginning of October, and, due to a certain superstition/ritual I have, it would be necessary for me to find a few Tim Horton's. Any information as to whether Timmy Ho's has in fact invaded HockeyTown, and how abundant the chain might be in that area is greatly appreciated.

LkptTiger 1 Report post Posted August 25, 2005 Where is your tournament? To be totally honest with you, I'm not too sure. I just recieved a schedule at practice a few nights ago, and the tournament is on the calendar. The page that was attached said we would get more information once it was made available to the team. I'm hoping we get a bit more tonight at the game.

There might be more than that in the Niagara Falls, Wheatfield, Tonawanda areas alone... I saw PA listed and just about busted a nut, too bad all three are in Erie. I was there for a couple of projects I did for the state years ago and was more than pleased to leave.

Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 But you know what there isn't a lot of in Toronto? Fast food restaurants! :( My family was in Toronto last year for the Induction Weekend, so we bought the CityPass. We went to the Science Musuem -- which is outstanding, by the way -- and figured we'd stop for lunch as we drove to Casa Loma. Where were all the McDonalds????? Why hasn't American culture taken over the world????? :oWe drove twelve miles and saw one McDonalds, which was not my first choice, but they wouldn't take credit cards and we didn't have enough Canadian money. It turned out we could have turned onto Yonge Street since they were all there, but I was in the wrong lane and going too fast, so I didn't notice. The thing is I couldn't drive anywhere in Denver for twelve miles without passing a McDonalds, Wendy's, Burger King, KFC, Carl's Jr, Chipotle, Q-Doba, Quizno's, Subway, Taco Bell, Good Times, El Pocco, Chik-Fil-Et, Rubios, Wahoo's, and probably about ten others.Of course, no In-N-Out! That okay, though. I was in Southern Cal last week and went there five times..... ;)
trucks 0 Report post Posted August 26, 2005 In my neighbourhood which is just outside of Toronto theyre all in clusters. When you see a McDonalds, a Wendys, Subway, Burger King, etc will all be within 2 minutes but they arent really scattered all over the place just certain intersections and areas have them all. Jason Harris 31 Report post Posted August 27, 2005 salming, there's a reason why America's obesity rate is much higher than Canada'sAin't that the truth, brother! :o btw, did you go to the CN tower? the very top of it (the highest you can go) lets you see all of Toronto as well a across lake ontario to niagara on clear days I did. And it obviously is incredibly impressive. But the sad truth is halfway up the elevator I turtled. Not that I love heights, but everything was fine until the elevator operator asked my daughters if they wanted to move up front. After seeing my five and seven-year-old daughters leaning against the glass door, all of the sudden I just became petrified, as I couldn't shake the image of them pushing a button and falling.I know it sounds crazy and, believe me, I want to try again when I'm up in Toronto in November, but for the rest of tour I was, frankly, petrified. Especially while seeing my daughters running around the glass floor or leaning over the rails.Yup, I wimped.....

I've heard that Krispy Kreme is pulling out of Canada because of they're doing so badly here. And I don't know what kind of Timmys they run where you live, but i've never been to one where they dont make fresh donuts... Well you must not have had them lately. Here is a quote from an employee:I am an employee of Tim Hortons. I started in February, precisely when they were adopting their new "Always Fresh" baking system. I could not figure out how they were producing all these donuts with no fryer in sight, so I inquired with a manager, who told me about the new system, and not to tell anyone. Fryers in stores were ripped out and replaced with giant walk-in freezers and a special frozen-donut-reheating oven. The donuts and other baked goods are partially baked in a plant in southern Ontario, frozen solid and shipped to stores accross the country to be reheated, decorated and served in-store. Doesn't sound very fresh to me. I get dozens of complaints about the donuts every day. The main complaint is that the baked products are smaller. If you want a better donut, and a better cup of coffee, try Robin's Donuts. Tim Hortons may pay my bills, but deserves no respect when it comes to the donut industry.
