Costly First Night

So far...

Mats Sundin

Rick Nash

Richard Zednik

Kari Letonen (sp?)

Have all left their respective games with injuries. Zeddy is a groin...Sundin an eye...Nash is a leg (possibly that bad ankle). Don'' know about Kari.

It could be a very long season for some teams if injuries start right away...

I hope the same thing with Yzerman doesnt happen with Sundin.

I thought Sundin was "only" a cut and stitches. Then again I was listening to the game online and not watching and easily could be wrong.

He went down like he was shot...threw his gloves off and had his face in his hands....it looked pretty bad. Not Berard bad...but...getting hit near the eye can hardly ever be a "minor" injury.

Bet he puts the visor back on....

He was going to check the other player(with the frustration in sundin's face), when he got like 2-3 feet away from the player, the puck just arrived in his face, poor him.

kari is fighting a groin injury he got in the preseason. he just reagrivated it. i think that game counld have been 0-0 all game if he was injury free. he's going to be fantastic.

Has anyone seen articles recently that a large percentage of the players who didn't play last year are sustaining groin injuries? I know three of the Bruins had groin injuries and all three sat out last year.

some linesman got hit in the face too

The linesman in the Leaf gmae (David Brisbois). Allison's stick came up on the faceoff and clipped him....he was bleeding pretty good when he went off.

Hope Sundin gets better. Nice to see Lindros play well

Kinda sucked how he only had about 30 seconds to celbrate after his goal. leafs were pretty brutal in the shootout. Allison just went a bit overboard, and it looked like lindros was seeing how loud of a sound it would make if hit hit the boards.

Hasek is going to be amazing in shoot-outs. He was trying to sucker him down and shelf it. Sundin did the same thing to'em in playoffs (except scored) in a playoff series a while back. I can't remember anyone scoring on penalty shot/Shoot-out other than that against him.

It'll be interesting to see how long Sundin's out. I've heard it hit the bone above his eye, didn't go into it.

I'm pretty sure he was over 50% in the pre-season and was 2-0 against Ottawa. It's not a big deal. If anyone told us were tying Ottawa with a lead going into the last minute with no Sundin and no Klee, I'm sure most leaf fans are taking it.

Yeah, all the lazy players who did not skate at a high level during the strike are so out of shape that their groins are screaming mercy! I guess the lure of a multimillion dollar salary is not much of an incentive?

Apperantly Sundin's gone for 6 weeks.

what a shiner he's got eh?

broken orbital bone, i was listening on the radio today. basically his eye socket is cracked, and they may have to drill a plate in to keep his eye muscles from going into the crack. if that happens, his eye won't be able to move properly, and he'll have double vision for the rest of his life, from his eyes pointing in different directions. i hope he gets better, and he's not even in my hockey pool :(

And he's CONSIDERING a visor when he returns!!!!!!

Just Grandfather the damn things in already.....If your under 30...you put one one...if not you still have a choice. Almost every kid coming up these days wears one anyways.

He wore it to start, he's already had another major eye injury vs. Carolina. There's a reason it wasn't on him, if he comes back I can't see it sticking. I heard Lindros on the radio today talking about it as well. I'm more pro-choice, but not really hard either way. The thing I don't understand is why visors are a considerationg? Why isn't it a full visor which protects everything?

If anything, the older vets need the visors more than the mid-age guys; longer reaction time.
