Johnny Confident 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 I tried some on the other day, and I like the way they fit my feet. However, I am kinda worried about them because in the review section there was some talk of them falling apart.Anyone here have them (that hasn't posted a review)? I'm curious to find out how they are holding up.My other choice is the 8090, which I haven't tried on yet.
Shagel 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 I have nothing but good things to say about my XXX's.. if they fit your feet most likely the 8090 wont fit as well as the XXX
duch 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 Bauer has done little about the durability issues surrounding either the Vapor XX's or XXX's. Unless you like disposable skates avoid them like the plague. Go with the Supremes or 8090's if your smart. ;)
thehighlife 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 If you take care of your skates, wipe them down after each skate and air them out so that they can dry, the skates will be just fine. I know college kids who get 1 pair of vapor xxx's in sept and the skates are still in good shape come April and they are on the ice 6 days a week.
whbd18 0 Report post Posted October 6, 2005 8090 are a totally different fit, than Vapors. I havent seen the XXX break down at all, unless you dont give a crap about your equipment.

Exactly....any piece of equipment will break down if not maintained properly. I always hang dry my gear after I play.

Chadd 916 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 If you don't believe what I'm telling you go to epinions.com and see the reviews on the new Vapor skates. I rest my case. The XXX boots are holding up better than XX. I'm very critical of them but durability has improved considerably.

Gongshow11 1 Report post Posted October 7, 2005 im on my 2nd pair of xxs and they almost feel like butter after 5 months, but thats just pure beauty in my books, the guys with xxxs have almost no break down, and they will most definately be my next skates.and im on the ice 6x a weeks and thats for the last 3 yrs. my last pair of xxs lasted me 2 yrs until the stell snapped at the end of last season and i just used my old vapor 10s which are the best skate ever IMO, too bad I cant ever fidn a pair in sz 8D. I was in St Jerome BNH plant in June in the custom skate department. I picked up a pair of Custom XXX with # 4 pro stiffness going to a player in SM Liga in Finland(elite league). These boots were stiffer than stiff! There was positively no flexing the ankle counter. You probably couldn't even lace them tight, if you wanted to. And at that stiffness you don't anyway. thehighlife 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 The skates may have "buckled" because he may have had the wrong size. It does happen even with guys who are anal about their skates. they think they have the right size but they don't. what is his definition of "Buckled" some people think a skate is "Buckled" as soon as it softens up a bit, some guys skate until the skate is falling apart. a lot of it is personal preference
JR Boucicaut 3804 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Do you mean that it has creased? That will happen if the skate is too big, as thehighlife said.
Hockeyman9621 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 Yup, this will only happen to ankle skaters.
cobrAA 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 how long does it take to make custom skate...and does it cost more??or it only for elite player!?
A_Steeves12 0 Report post Posted October 8, 2005 i think anyone can get custom skates, just go to you LHS and see what they can do for you. i think there is a 100+ up charge on customs also
sogaduch 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Do you mean that it has creased? That will happen if the skate is too big, as thehighlife said. his skates are 7 3/4 B heel and D forefoot and a 8 AA heel and a D forefoot. so size isnt the issue here
duch 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 You want me to elaborate. Their disposable garbage! They are great looking skates with no durability to them. Most guys I've spoken to about them have had theirs for quite a few months and their already softening up. If you need to get them custom stiffened to have them last for you, the regular ones you get on the retail market can't be too good. THINK ABOUT THAT! Besides when web sites like epionions.com who do studies on different new products warn you about these problems you'd be foolish to go out and waste your hard earned money on them. There are plenty of other skates in the Bauer line that are exceptionally good and have proven durability and are also reasonably light which I consider a better buy. Look at Tacks, Grafs , Mission S Series and Easton Snergys too. There's durability and lightness for you in the same price level. :D
BGM 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 I've had no problems with durability with mine.
O-zone 0 Report post Posted October 9, 2005 Besides when web sites like epionions.com who do studies on different new products Please, let's not spread any myths...Epinions is just what its name suggests - a site where ANYONE can post his or her personal opinions, period. And that is a fine thing, such as it is.But it is NOT a site which carries out scientific, objective product evaluation or benchmarking studies. There is a big difference. Thanks,Ken
