What Hockey Academy/School did Sudney crosby Go To

Recommended Posts

I believe he went to Shattuck-St. Mary's which is located in Fairbault, Minnesota before he went and played in the Q.

Something like that. But not just "a" hockey team, they are coached by Zach Parise's dad, a former NHLer with the old North Stars. Plus, they play alot more games than a regular, high school hockey team. Their length of season and games played is more similar to a junior level league and they travel nationally to play. Most of their recent top players have gone on to either play in the CHL (like Sidney did), the US national development team or D1 college level (NoDak has and had several players that played for Shattuck). The school has their own website, just google it for more info.

Shattuck won the USA Hockey U-18 national championships when Crosby was there, and have won it since. Last year they won the boys U-18 and the girls U-19 championships.

he only went there 9th and 10th grades

Not true, he went there in Gr. 10, his sophomore year. He played for Subways in Gr. 9.

It's a prep school with a strong hockey program, that's all. There's lots of good schools like Shattuck. I'm going to play them this year, we'll see how that goes..

there are a ton of teams a SSM aren't there? More than the avg prep school...I thought they were more of the independent a la Northwood in the late 80's when they had guys like Richter, Therien, just about everyone on their '88 squad played D1..but they played colleges, Jr squads anyone they could..since they were in Placid and not in the traditional MA, CT areas

Good luck, make sure you destroy them.

If I recall correctly though, someone from my school was telling me we beat them the year they had crosby on thier team, the one time we did play them.

Ya it was SSM. I know a couple kids that went there and still go there. The money to go there is just rediculous. We played there bantam AA team last year and beat them and played there tier 2 midget minor team this year and tied them. Bastards tied it up with 18 seconds left.

You sure? He said he's playing on the preps but is on the second highest squad there, so he might have meant varsity. He's only an '89 so his future is REAL bright.

Maybe there's a junior and senior Varsity to develop some younger players, while still playing at a high level?

Believe me, their top team is the Prep team. The Varsity team is one below the prep.

Just like Avon has their Varsity team and the Varsity 2's are one step below, hockeychamp...

I would kill to go to Shattuck, but like said before, the money is ridiculous... :o

They also have AAA teams, not just 'Prep' and 'varsity'

Not if they ask you to go.. ;)

They have Midget AAA, AA, Bantam Tier 1 (AAA), Bantam Tier 2 (AA) AFAIK. Their prep team is the highest, then Varsity, etc etc.
