Question about Kovalev

I know guys who can score a goal.  Has he done that?  At least play some D if you're going to be tits on a bull out there.

5 assists in 5 games is decent, not great but ok. Anyway, 1 vs 1, he's maybe the best, and always leave the corners with the puck.

But he never goes into the corner unless he already has it.

IMO, he doesn't seem to work because he's a step above everyone like Lemieux.

Now Marios a step behind everyone, the open ice skating game doesn't suit him well. He does well in the half ice PP part of the game.

It seems like it's the same thing with Ribeiro in Montreal.

He's just lazy. I have no idea why in the hell Mission/Itech would pick a guy like that as their poster boy.

Even when Pretty Mike Modano was soft and feared the corners he scored. Kovalev would do well with a backbone.

Jagr is far better than Kovy in the corners, stronger, and has more moves. Don't get me wrong, I am a die hard ranger fan, and Kovy was and always has been my favorite player. But if you remember (and i do) the Rangers were playing the RedWings at the garden, and Kovy went behind the net (dont worry, the puck wasnt there) and the play went up ice, and he tripped over the net, and screwed up his leg, he hasnt been the same since. Jagr is an all around better player, stronger on the puck, isnt quite as fancy as Kovy, but he isnt afriaid to get the puck, and when he gets slashed in the hand, he dosent cry

I agree Jagr is stronger than Kovy on the puck but it's harder to pull the puck from Kovy than Jagr. Kovy is a better skater than Jagr and a better stickhandler than Jagr. He's also more elusive than Jagr. Jagr is maybe more consistent than Kovy, but when both are in their games, I think Kovy is better than Jagr.

He dominate Belak and Berg all he wants, he will never ever be close to Lemieux. Kovy has always had a reputation of playing for a contract and showing up whenever he wants. You can say Lemieux and Kovy are both extremely talented, but don't use Lemieux's bad habits to excuse Kovalevs, especially when Lemieux has always had terrific numbers and been the leader of his teams, Kovy never really has been the leader and his numbers aren't really close. He's scred 70+ points 3 times in his career.

Those comparison are fun because Kovy and Jagr are IMO the best 2 players of the league with the puck.
