Basically the main reason is because he's a greedy asshole who can't keep his mouth shut..

It's all about set market value though. Nobody's worth 10mil, but if you pay one play 10mil, then one who's better and puts more butts in seats should make more.

And if they trade him they take a HUGE cap hit because 4/5ths of his salary is in bonuses.

He called out his overrated QB, the media jumped on it, Owens apologizes and they suspend him. They had been looking for something to get him on all year though.

Sometimes an apology isn't enough. In this case, he called out his QB, yes. He's hurt, majorly. Bruised ribs, sports hernia? Come on, there's not much he can do. At least he has the guts to go out there each week and try to do the best of his ability.

TO is completely at fault for not making more money. when he signed the deal he has right the eagles made sure he understood what he was signing, the eagles knew the deal wasnt that good for TO and made sure he understood that. TO is just an idiot for signing a long term, low dollar contract. the guy is a selfish punk and doesnt deserve to play. you go to any other job in america and you act like TO you are fired right on the spot. Whether or not he's underpaid is up for discussion, but it's his own doing that he has the current contract. He'd have been better off getting Master P to rep him.

He forced San Francisco to trade him after his agent failed to file the paperwork in time to make him a free agent. He didn't want to be traded to Baltimore and wanted to go to Philly, so the NFL arranged to have him end up in Philly. Philly then offered him a new long-term contract, one that made him one of the best paid 4 or 5 WRs in the game. That was despite Owens still having a year left on his SF contract. He then played well for the most of his first season, until he got hurt. Then he said it would show how valuable he was if the team lost in the playoffs. When he came back for the superbowl he played very well but they lost so he blamed McNabb. Then he said he had to sign a "secret waiver" before they would let him play, something he has not been able to prove. After the Superbowl he decided he wanted more money.

Since then he has created one distraction after another, something he said he would do if he didn't get a raise. They guy is a world class talent but he's also a monumental jackass.

Another article on ESPN.com today that he got into a fist fight with hugh douglas and then called out everyone in the room saying you want some of me you want some of me. He wants more money but he signed the contract he did. Doing it the way that he did by firing his agent and hiring rosehaus for that one purpose makes him look like an A$$. There are plenty of people that I work with who make more money but are less productive. Just because one team overpays for a player doesn't mean another player should make more money.

4/5ths of his salary is bonuses? You have no idea what you're talking about. Owens' has a $7.5M roster bonus next year (technically $5M is broken up from his original signing bonus and $2.5M is a roster bonus, but they're both given only if he's on the roster). After that, it's all base salary ($5.5M, $6.5M, $7.5M, and $8.5M). Owens' will be cut after this season since the signing bonus was broken up into two installments and he didn't get one yet. Since he's receiving $8.5M in bonuses so far, you take that number and multiply it by 5/7's to get the cap hit the Eagles will take. So they'll either pay him $8.27M to keep him on the roster or take a $6.07M cap hit to get rid of him. I'm guessing they'll cut him and use the extra $2.2M to get another receiver to fill his roster spot. Let's not forget that the Eagles were $11M under the salary cap before the weekend (I'm not sure how much Westbrook will eat into that number this year because of his new contract).

Not only that, but the NFLPA told him that the contract wasn't market value for a top 3 WR. Maybe he doesn't deserve to be paid like a top 3 WR because he yells at his coordinators and claimed that his old QB (who had a better single season than any other 9ers QB) couldn't throw and was gay. Then he fired one of his good friends as his agent and hired a total douchebag who is making it a personal mission to change the way teams deal with players..... I wonder why he's not getting his money.
