If even money, would you get the S500 or Kor?

OK, if they cost the same, would you get the Kor or S500 skate?

OK, should be self explanatory, but basically, if the cost were the same, would you get the Kor, or the S500? I'm loosely on the market, and am leaning towards the S500 as the supplefit concept intriques me and I think they'll start going on sale soon. BUT, for the sake of argument, let's say the cost the same. Which is the better skate based on your interaction with one, other, or both (although, Chadd may be the only one who's tried both recently)?

personally i would go with the kors, i know its all personal preference. but jr works at my lhs and he introduced me to the kors, i was kinda sceptical at first simply because they arent very well known and i personally think they look kinda funny but i tried them on and fell in love. there was a slight pain in the ankles but jr promised with a bake it would be gone, he was right. also in the kor there is a neoprene liner in the toe which is the most comfortable toe box i have ever used. also the lower cut of the boot really allows you to turn tighter. another nice feature of the kor is the pitch holder. i wanted to swap it out with some ls2 but jr convinced me to give them a try, all i can say is i love them. you can change the pitch to match your favorite holder. in my personal experience i would defiantly spend a little more money even if hte s500 are on sale and go with the kor.

They are both fantastic skates. Similar in some respects and very different in others. I liked the Kors but they cause some problems for my feet and I have never had a bit of pain in my S500s. I'll be in my S500s for a long time.

I couldn't tell ya which skate is better considering i have never worn a pair of s500's. What i can tell you is that the Kors are a very well built skate and even if your set on the s500s just try a pair of Kors on for th ehell of it.

I'd go for the Kor because of the newer technology. Fit and durability wouldn't be a problem with either skate. They both have the Pitch 3 blade holder and are even in that respect. Personally I wouldn't be dissappointed with either skate. Both are made of carbon composite fibre insoles and quarters and have a lot of research and development done to them and are excellent products.

Based on my S300s, I'd say S500s for sure. I might never be able to go back to a stiff boot again. Then again if you block a lot of shots I'd go with the Kors. Got a slapper off the toecap last night and it stung.

Hey Ogie- you gonna get those at the Players Bench in Richardson? If so, Jason will probably try to lean you to the Kor. Just by looks, those are the two nicest skates I have ever seen, but they don't come in my size and they won't do customs- Unless you're JR. If it was me, I'd go demo the KOR's first to see if you have the dreaded ankle problem that is floating around.

What ankle problem is that? None of the local guys have had any ankle problems.

The one thing I've heard is that the sides actually cut into you're ankle. Nothing structurally though. Might have only been due to improper heat molding though.

Actually, I went to the Player's Bench and looked at them when they first justgot them. The people there didn't know enough about them and I had to come back to give them a chance to figure out what was involved in the demo program. In fact, they didn't even know they were bakable (got the directions from on how to properly heat them from someone on the boards and brought them back with me and dropped them off). The demo program is free for only 3 days. One would have to have a lot of hockey over a 3 day span to try them out and see if you like them (and if you get them baked first, you would have to wait a day before you could use them - so really only 2 days). So, I didn't try the demo program as I didn't have a window where I'd have enough hockey for it to work out. However, I might be able to swing it these days, as I have several back to back days.

I think Drew is confusing the KOR (which is a low cut skate, by the way, so ankle is not likely as much as a problem as you may think) with the Synnergy 1300c. People were having that problem all the time with the Synnergy.

My bad. That's what happens when something isn't made in your size. Just got confused.

Well, if you were a fashion-ho, wouldn't you opt for the Kor - it's like the Maserati of the skate world. Exotic, rare, performance oriented and notably different, yet not unappealing. You can be the envy of the skate-o-philes at the rink.....

Well, not that anyone likely cares that much as to the goings-on of Ogie's hockey locker, but I went with the S500. Thanks to Dave the Wave's ebay coupon (http://www.modsquadhockey.com/index.php?showtopic=15377) I got a size 10ee on ebay for $185 (including shipping). Only thing is.... I am pretty sure I'm a 10.5 (the seller looked and couldn't get them in a 10.5). SO, I will try to squeeze my Fred Flintstone feet into them. If they won't fit, I figure I should be able to get $185 for them here or on ebay.

I will let everyone know what I think (should I be able to use them, of course). If that doesn't pan out, I will shell out the extra $$ and go with the Kors. I fear the toe box may not be wide enough though, so we'll see if this will be a viable option for me or not. I may just end up having to have my big a$$ bone growth removed from my big toe so I can wear skates properly, so we'll see.

SO, when it came right down to it, the S500 intriqued me. That, combined with price (cheapest I could find the Kor on the net was $429 - & locally they're $499) made this the decision to go with. Hopefully, I won't have any buyer's remorse.
