Difference between Vapor XV and XX, XXX

Recommended Posts

vapor XV has "nike air" + dual density foams, XX has "zoom air" + dual density foams, XXX has dual density foams and plastic inserts.

XV has a clarino palm

XX has a stretch palm

XXX has a thin nash palm (with an extra set attached)

XV and XX have similar outer materials (basicallly synthetic leather)

XXX is nylon

XV has a regular thumb

XX has a lock thumb

XXX has a lobster tail thumb

i think that's about it as far as difference goes

nope, the XX is all synthetic leather type stuff. the palm on the XV is actually nash and soemthing else, like durasoft or something like that. the nash on the XXX is very thin, and it's great for feel, but it's not very durable. the XV palm is thicker nash with another overlay, so it's probably much more durable. i've tried all of them on, and the XV and XX are very similar in terms of mobility, but the XXX really stands out. i also like the nash/nylon much better. Only the XXX has nylon out of the three.

another note, the XXX doesn't have the adjustable cuff. it almost seems like the XXX has the least number of features, but it just feels like a much nicer glove

All said and done, do you think that the XXX is worth the price over the other 2?

I like that it's light-weight, and I don't care about adjustable cuffs. Right now I have TPS R2's, no I'm not too worried about that.

And another question (the main reason for getting new gloves), will these palms ever harden up?

I'm asking because my Louisville TPS R2 gloves have hard palms now, and I need to wet them before use, and while it works, my hands reak like no tomorrow. I (obviously) want to avoid having to deal with this.

R2s are my favorite gloves, ever.

Well, I love the feel of the glove, but hate the palm. How much would it cost to get re-palmed with some really thin digital palms, or at least something that is really thin but will last and not harden up?

The person at my LHS said that it was way too much and worth it to just get new gloves.

Glove repalming

I believe this is what everyone here recommends.

Hey, i was wondering, i have XX with the lockthumbs..but i'm out for 1 week because of a injury at my thumb... i don't know the exact spesific term for my injury but i can't move it more than 1 inch if i do...it will hurt as hell but it is not broken...

So my question: Is the XXX better in term of ''lock thumb'' it feel like my thumb is moving too much in my glove and this is how i got injured..

I 'd go for a pair of Eagle X-70's or a pair of Reebok 8K's. They offer better protection especially over the top of the wrist area when the glove is bent forward. The Vapors are nice gloves but I prefer optimum protection over lightness.

They're not too expensive (the 8k's) and look nice. I'll have to see if I can try some on. What glove do they fit like?

And I don't like gloves with one piece fingers, so no low-end eagles for me.

8k's are looser than the XXX's, they fit like a segmented box on your hand. the XXX's are more tapered. IMO, the XXX isn't really worth the price over the XX or XV's, it's just that the better you want your gloves to be, the more you will have to pay for that extra bit.

Eh, I'm not into a loose glove really, I want something that fits tighter, more snugly to my hand. And I have long elbow pads, so it seems I'll shell out the clams for the Vapor XXX. Hey, if the difference between something is that small (my opinion) than why not? And the nylon is more light/durable to boot.

And, does anyone know if I can get custom colored gloves from Bauer? I want white with black accents and Dark/Forest Green X's. That is, if it's not too much more money. But, would the white get dirty being nylon and all?

Whoa, $150. Looks like they're a bit more expensive than I thought they were. Oy, oh well, good thing I don't like them.
