Rangers vs Caps

nice goal, nothing spectacular, ive seen guys do this in a regular game and score.

Please name the players to do this in regular season games in NHL. Just curious who is on the list. Any video?

I think Bertuzzis done that once in the playoffs if that counts (not breaking in and doing it but standing in front of the net, putting it between his legs and sliding it in.) lol, but 02-03 I know Nazzy & Bert were on fire. This year they're picking it up a little slow but it's coming.

Nothing spectacular? 15th round, Marek Malik goes through his legs at MSG. I gotta see what you would consider spectacular. I'm blown away someone could make that statement.

It looked like Hollweg shot 5th or 6th for NYR...crazy..guy gets like 7 min of ice time a game and is that high up in the rotation

JD mentioned that the Ranger goalies said he's good at breakaways in practice. He made a couple of nice moves before losing the puck.

I think your thinking of Ortmeyer, Hollweg just took a shot stick-side, barely missing the net. Ortmeyer had Kolzig beat out of his skates, but the puck slid off his stick just before he could put it in.

On another note, how about Ovechkin being stopped for the first time? He came into the SO 4 for 4, and left 4 for 5. Lundqvist just shut the door on him.

Jonathan Cheechoo did it vs Abby and the Avs during a playoff game.

I still think its a balls-to-the-wall move to pull out of your hat! The 28 guys before him didn't do it!!!

ive seen mario do it against boston when hes had TWO guys draped all over him and he was around the circle. ive also seen jagr do it. ive also seen german titov do it once. plus its alot easier to do it when you have all the time and space in the world to do something

all im saying is it was a nice goal, but everybody is busting a nut over this. he pulled it off because he is marek malik. if jagr would of tried that and missed, how much critism do you think he would of faced? if malik misses it, oh well hes marek malik and its the 15h round of the shootout. he doesnt have to worry about the pressure. he isnt one of the top 3 go to guys when you need a shootout goal. he ws basically a last gasp for the rangers.

WTF guys, everybody could have done this for sure,, don't tell me, look how hose big guys have talent to do this, come on, everybody know that it doesn't take much skills to do this. I mean even if they are in front of 20000 persons, when you are used to play in front of that many persons, you don't care...

I'd like to see you do this full speed on a breakaway with the "game on your stick" against an NHL caliper goalie. But I guess if it was Kovalev out there, he would of done a 360 backflip as well as shoot threw his legs.

I'm pretty sure Jagr did that on a breakaway a few years when with Pittsburgh. I'm pretty sure he missed, but they wound up winning anyway.

That was a re-direction.....not as difficult to pull off, IMO.

It was the Highlight of the Night on TSN this morning, I saw this thread and went looking for the goal yet it still amzed me when I saw it. I was expecting a weak bandhand move but he pulled that out of nowhere, only downfall was they were plugging the Grey Cup during his Vince Carter Slam Dunk Competition victory celebration. As for other guys doing it Wellwood has done it plenty of times in practice as well as the AHL skills competition last year and at least one regular season AHL shoot out. He tried it in a game a while ago when he overskated a puck bouncing off the endboards but put it over the net and Quinn ripped him for it. Just imagine what it would be like if he were Sidney Crosby.

Imagine if it was anyone, Kovalev, Crosby, Oveckin everyone on this board would be all over it, but since it some guy no one knows about, it turns into a deke "everyone" can do.

Samsonov did it against the Flyers 3 years ago. He did it real close to a defensemen, shot it between the defensemen's legs and over the goalies shoulder. It was sick.

many guys have done this move , but look at all of them ....... cheecho, samsonov..etc. theyre all fowards with great puckhandling skills. i mean guys just watch malik play , hes a big slow guy who just passes it , no stick handling and then he comes out with this amazing shot in a SO when everybody watching the game said " oh man , here comes malik"

i say give credit where credit is due and stop trying to act tough and say OH EVERYONE CAN DO THAT , when he pulled it off in msg with 20,000 + people watching him , with the game in his hands.

I agree, just because Malik pulls it off doesn't mean anyone can..

its like the stupid michigan move..when people do it when they are up 7-2 against a junk team..

saw a kid (Kevin Spain? from VA) do it to win a NARCh Regional while in stride and in OT a couple years ago..that's balls too..

You act like he's nervous playing in front of 20k fans. And he could have only won the game, it's not like they would've lost if he missed the shot.

Just because a lot of guys have done it doesn't mean it wasn't a great move.

If you never claimed he was nervous, then why bring up the fact it was in front of 20k fans. Just to let us know how many people MSG can hold?
