Mine went yesturday and today. I think I really screwed the pooch by having dead legs and not enough good food in me, just some crap my mom made...

I still think I made the team though, should have easily made Varsity, but think I made JV instead... Pretty pissed about that though.

how come the tryouts are so late in the year? my old high school teams already a month or two into the season, and had tryouts end of september/early october.

Ours are prob the 2nd week of December, but then there isn't much High School Hockey around here, only some of the private schools have them, and our "A" team will prob still have a bunch of house players, and some of the younger AAA players will make it.

Had mine earlier this month, I think on the 15. They stuck me on JV first line so a freshman could wear number 1 on the varsity team...sucks big time. Third year running that I got screwed over. I can't wait to be a JV senior <_<

Stupid coach...

Try this...

Bust your ass on JV and suck up to the coach. When I say suck up, I mean ask the coach for advice. Talk to him (or her) about techniques and skills that would make you a shoe-in for next year.

As the coach becomes your "friend" he may move up to varsity mid-season.

If the coach can see you are a hard worker and want to play V, that may have more weight than a suck-up parent.

Im better than half the kids on that team,My Play is not an issue. I thought i was friends with the coach ,but I guess he would rather have someone on his team that sucks badly ,so im not the one missing out. Im making it next year no matter what and I will probably get moved up after a couple games this year anyway.

Try reading this book:

"How to Win Friends & Influence People" - Dale Carnegie.

This is not a smart-ass reply, or a hockey one for that matter, but a good book that I wish someone would have shown me when I was younger.

The book provides techniques on how to build successful relations with people. This skill can be used for many things: jobs, school, hockey, even girls!

We've had 3 days of tryouts so far and have the 'varsity' tryout tommorow. I'm a freshman and got invited to that tryout so I'm pretty excited, still a long way to go though...our varsity lost 14 seniors from a top-25 team. :(

So,I just got word that 3 scrawny little freshman have my schools varsity team. Even though they arent good and are scared shitless of getting hit, they still made it over me.Usually our team is based on talent, but this year it looks like it is based on Kids brothers being on the team and Parents who have it in with the coaches.Im not even suprized if I dont make JV,because of the BS that has happened so far.

I got cut 2 weeks ago from the varsity team here at the farm, looks like I'm jetting to play empire though. I may transfer somewhere else. I liked Westminster, but after talking with them, they don't take mid year transfers. I'll see what becomes of this season.

WHBD --- if you have to deal with crap like that, just find somewhere else to play next year. You don't need to take crap like that in a program. It's too bad it took me 4 years to figure that out.

I might be moving to canada next year.Missasauga(SP?) to be exact,Im not positive though. My mom might be getting transfered for her work.Hopefully there is some good, fair hockey up there.

O ya hocke ,my friends brother went to Old farms and didnt make Varsity,so he came here Junior year ,made All-State both years, and is most likely going to be playing Ncaa Div 1 in a year or two.
